「舉世皆可為家嗎？」
人類學家Gordon Mathews，自1994年起與日籍妻子定居香港。教職以外，他一邊學習廣東話，一邊進行音樂創作。後來更透過其於重慶大廈長期的田野考察，向不少未曾踏足該處的香港人介紹箇中不同而流動的社群。
對於Gordon Mathews而言，「家」是無常、暫時的。在全球化影響下，人猶如置身「文化超市」，每天在生活中作出不同的文化選擇。我們在不受原生之家所限的同時，亦離家越來越遠。
或者，「家」只是一種感覺，一種讓人自在、平靜的感覺。「理想的世界，應該可讓人無論身處何方，都找到家的感覺。屆時我們將真正地活在同一個星球上。」

WMA 2023/24 的雙年度主題為「家」。「家」影片系列採訪25位不同背景的人士，包括年輕人、家庭主婦/夫、藝術家、學者等分享個人故事和經驗，探討他們對家的理解、想像以至疑問，並邀請觀眾一同思考和審視「家」於當下的意義。

“Can all the world be home?”
Gordon Mathews, an anthropologist, and his Japanese wife have been in Hong Kong since 1994. In addition to teaching, he has learned Cantonese and composed music. Many Hongkongers who had never been there were made aware of the hidden yet diverse populations there thanks to his tireless fieldwork and research in Chungking Mansions.
Gordon Mathews views "home" as a fleeting place. People are exposed to a wide range of cultural elements from around the world as a result of globalisation, and they make choices in their daily lives as a result. We are not constrained by where we came from, but we are also becoming farther away from it.
Or perhaps "home" is simply a sensation of peace. “Ideally, one can feel at home anywhere in the world. When that happens, we truly will be all on the same planet.”
