My physical therapist uses one of these on me! I am spinal cord disabled and get tons of weird issues from my lymphatic problems and neurological issues...she uses it to loosen me up. It is like freaking magic!!!
@beckyg53786 жыл бұрын
I’m currently in physical therapy few times per week for a knee injury. My therapist does this (they call it scraping) to help break up some of the inflammation. I kid you not, this is a game changer. It’s helped sooo much!
@keegankupcakes8276 жыл бұрын
This is really interesting! I agree that doing the downward strokes on your neck is is the better option because I’ve learned that’s the proper flow of the lymphatic system and if your goal is to decrease puffiness you want to go with the flow. I definitely want to try this out and see if it helps me!
@anjeanetteschannel6 жыл бұрын
So cool! As a licensed massage therapist I can confirm that when working on the FRONT of the neck, you should use downward motions. On the BACK of the neck use downward motions, especially if you get migraines. Hope that helps!

Hey Bailey, from everything I've read about Gua Sha you are right about stroking downward on your throat ; apparently it's an ancient Chinese medicine forum of treating the skin. We have several lymph nodes in our face and throat area so it is only logical to drain excess fluids towards them. There's one near each temple and I believe the remainder are located in our throats. I'm impressed to see a young woman taking care of her skin in this way. I'm a migraine sufferer also and know food preservatives play a role in triggering mine. Best of everything, Victoria💚

So mine is made out of amethyst. Also not shaped the same way. However I just got it last week, and already I see a difference when using. I suggest for people with normal to combo skin, to use an oil because other products dry quickly on the face and you certainly want this thing to glide.

the moment you mentioned using this on your neck for migraines i immediately ordered one. i did some reading on the different types of materials used in gua sha tools... apparently, bian stone is the best and most effective. the frequency at which it resonates makes it the most "potent". jade is also recommended because it's frequency is similar to that of the human body and it is said to have qi. i thought you might find this interesting... or really boring. im a nerd.

I'm going to check out the Gua Shua online before I buy it but it looks like a really cool tool to add to my skin and body care routine. I'm getting a jade and rose quartz face roller as well as a Hansa massager. A good friend who also suffers from migraines and arthritis has recommended the Hansa massage tool to me. She hasn't had a bad migraine since she started including a weekly Hansa massage and her arthritis (we both have rheumatoid and osteo arthritis) hasn't made her reach for her pain meds. There are a lot of alternative therapies out there that don't cost mucho dinero but like anything, it's always best to research.

Okay, so the fluid that’s draining is lymphatic fluid. While we have lymphatic fluid throughout our bodies, it isn’t self-circulating the same way our blood is. So, it circulates through manual movement. That’s basically why gua sha works the way it does. It’s just light compression and pushes that lymph around. SO, for any body part from the neck down, you always work in the direction toward your heart. It’s just kind of the general rule. For the neck, go down, obviously. For legs, up, etc.

@gypsysnickerdoodle43544 жыл бұрын
The difference is between Traditional (Chinese/Asian) Medicine & Western Medicine. In some traditions, gua sha along a meridian direction can move Qi, blood & essence Bear in mind, TCM advocates layers of the body from outside, inwards. Qi stagnation & blood stagnation are highly undesirable
