I was a reporter for The Pacific Daily News from 1993 to 1996 and I covered the official opening of that K Mart! It was an amazing experience - fully one third of Guam's population came out that day to come to K Mart.

I did a total of 7 1/2 years on Guam and loved it. I think about it all the time. Hafa Adai everyone😁 The last time I was there was 2007 and I transferred to Hawaii bot I was so spoiled living on Guam that I was extremely disappointed. The busiest beach on the Island is the one at Anderson AFB on the weekend if you can get on base.. Visitors, feel free to visit the villages when they fiesta. Everyone is welcome.🤗

Today we join our Bearded Nerd as he gets rained on so instead of going out and exploring nature he takes a viewer stationed over in Guam to a K-Mart wheree the get weird flavoured food, that apparently is surprisingly good. They also get burgers and fries (that looked very tasty). The next day Adam gets a brief windows to go to the beach and go in the water (maybe I should call him a Soggy Bearded Nerd in this episode). Then he goes to get a heavy duty breakfast before meeting up with a local man who has been in these videos before where he will later subject to eating weird Japan based chocolates and candy. They also will get Korean BBQ. - Great stuff as usual Adam, that breakfast looked awesome, fattening, but awesome.

I love that they still have Little Caesars in the Kmart in Guam. I love these Guam videos. Despite the rain it’s still so pretty. The spam burger looked good and that French toast looked freaking delicious. Those melon and orange chocolate Kit Kats are great. I have the chocolate orange now. That Korean food had me drooling 🤤

Loved how it was not crowded at the beach and the store wasn’t crowded. The store was nicely organized and stocked. All I could think is that it wouldn’t look nice like that in some parts of the mainland. It’s the perks of being in a small island.

I lived in Guam in the early 1970’s. Such a beautiful island. There’s way too many people there now do to the US Military. It’s not large enough to take on so many people. It was a beautiful place to live in and safe. Had a child who was 3 months old when I arrived to join my husband and then a couple years later our daughter was born in Guam. I enjoyed going to the beach almost daily, taking the babies as I snorkeled around. I always promised my son & daughter I’d take them to where they used to live but a spinal injury and disease has taken that gift away. Enjoy the beautiful island of Guam!

We were stationed at Andersen AFB from 1974 to 1978.....my sister and I were 11 when we got there (twins). It was SUCH an amazing place to live! We were there when the Vietnamese refugees were brought in, and for Super Typhoon Pamela in 76 or 77, can't remember for sure. Eating at the Latte Stone, the outdoor movie theaters, the roller rink, and of course the beaches!! Talofofo Falls, Mount Lam Lam. The very first escalator at the new Ben Franklin's had people lined up around the store just to ride it! LOVED the food! Got addicted to lumpia there. No, it isn't nearly the same now. But we were blessed to have a chance to live there!

Vermonter here. I can confirm, we collaborated with our maple counterpart Canadians to the north and the Indian community in the Big Apple NYC to create the maple curry concoction. And we struck a deal with Japan to distribute it across the world in the most distant part of our same country. Both Guam and Vermont are mistaken for being not in the USA but other countries (Japan/Canada) 😂 so we have that in common.

I was born and raised in Guam, but I've lived in the states for over 20 years now. One thing I miss most is the Asian cuisine. I've lived in the Seattle area, SoCal, and now Chicago for several years. With the exception of maybe K-town in L.A., I have not found an area that matches Guam when it comes to East and S.E. Asian cuisine.

Cool video. Nice to see another side of the states. Fun fact, those gummies are all soda flavored. They are marketed as "tough" gummies (which is why your friend said they are tough.) The Yellow one is a "Energy Soda", the brown one is "energy cola" and the orange one is "energy ginger ale." The energy alludes to "energy drinks" which is the basis of the energy soda flavor. Had them all of the time when I was living in Japan.

Was stationed at Andersen AFB, Guam 04-06. Absolutely loved it! Would love to go back and visit someday. Perhaps when I'm on my way back to the Philippines to visit I could stop on by there. You're correct it's paradise...I call it a hidden gem. Also, you mentioned Sears and I know Blockbuster's Video in your other vlog. When I was stationed in Fairbanks, AK somewhat recent 15-19....we had two Blockbuster's there and a Sears. Obviously they closed a few years ago but they had to be one the of last remaining.

11:40 Another interesting thing to note is how much more frosting the US Oreo-os have. Korean sweets in general are much more subtle in flavour. 14:47 That's a "Jollypong" latte. Jollypong is a brand of sweet wheat-based snack, so that's basically a wheat snack-infused latte. Some places here serve lattes with the actual wheat snack on top of the latte. 32:07 Japchae is actually a pretty healthy choice! Japchae is a food traditionally served when someone has guests. The Kimchi Jon (pancake) is usually more of a side dish, and goes great with alcohol. Brian's cheese, chicken, and ddeokbokki (glutinous rice cake) is a comfort food favourite among the young. The side dishes are usually eaten on their own as bites in between the meal and not mixed, but if that's your bag then totally go for it. Anyway, you guys got a great feast! Thanks for sharing the journey as always! Guam is a really interesting mix of cultures and seems like a fun and fascinating place to visit.
