what are the chords on this zither. " of them have sharping levers. Are they to change the chord from minor to major> and who made them?

Hello Paul, Thank you for your interest. About levers, The lever when upright raises a small tab which lifts the string slightly. The vibrating length of the string becomes shorter making the note a semi tone higher. It is like putting a finger on the 1st fret of a guitar string. In my tuning (which is different from the original tuning) the G chord, furthest left, is tuned to G minor (with a B flat). With the lever up, the B flat becomes B natural and the chord becomes G major). Similarly, D minor becomes B flat (but inverted = with a D bass) This is the tuning I use on my 5 chord zither: Melody section: a0, b0, c1, d1, e1, f1, g1, a1, bflat1, b1, c2, d2, e2, f2, g2, a2, bflat2, b2, c3, d3, e3. Chords: from left to right: G major ( g1, d1, b0, gbass) D minor (f1, d1, a0 dbass) F major (f1, c1, a0, fbass) A minor (e1, c1, a0, abass) C major (e1, c1, g0, cbass). Unfortunately, the person who made these levers cannot make any more. Best regards, Etienne

@@guitarzither thanks for the information. ihave just purchased a 5-chord zither from eBay, and am waiting for it to come. From the eBay listing it seems to be in good condition, but we'll see what it's like when it arrives. I will probably get an autoharp maker to refurbish it, and put new strings on it with basically diatonic tuning, but with a sharp or flat in each octave, just as you did. I am trying to work out what keys to use and what chords. i will mostly (try to) play Irish Celtic music on it. Any advice would be appreciaed.
