20,000 wasps? First thought that came to mind was “I wonder who counted them.” Haha My mind is warped today.

I thought the same thing. Haha. I thought "Well how do they know it's exactly 20,000? What if it's 19,999? I know they didn't have someone go through and individually count 20,000 little tiny wasps." 😂 That's just my pessimistic side taking over lol.

Out of all the years that I used the wasps from the 70's thru the 90's and even into the first 10yrs of 2000+ I was able to do away with chemical products and most of all the fly 🪰 traps!! My Dad had a horse farm plus numerous dogs, chickens, peacocks, guinea hens and cattle. The first year we ordered 30,000 every so many weeks & by the end of the summer we definitely noticed . The neighbors that were the closest commented that the flies weren't as bad. We were told that they would search the manure and other poop from around the area. I gave out the name of the company to many of my friends and neighbors. The more ppl that use the wasps that live in close proximity the better the elimination of flies!!! I now live in the country with a couple small dogs and cats. W/O the wasps after 15yrs the traps and even fly strips have been back in use!! I plus 4 of the previous neighbors that moved didn't keep up with the wasps since we no longer have the livestock but more new neighbors with sheep, goats, birds etc and the flies are multiplying!!!!

Hi Kevin & Rachel, I have seen those on other farms. They left them in the bags open and put them in a place where it was a centralized location and the wasp flew to where they needed to be, whether it was by the animals or gardens. That way the animals would not get to them. Thank you for sharing! Blessings to you and your family!🕊✝🙏🏼💖

25 years ago I worked for a PhD at a college I attended and she and her students were working on natural predators for eliminating bugs. Because I typed up her notes and read her students work I am a firm believer in natural remedies to pests. I used Comfortis on my dogs for years because it worked to eliminate fleas without the chemicals. Her work was mostly in nematodes and their fight against grubs and other burrowing bugs. I am hoping this works for you all. How has the treatment of the mites on the goats progressed? I live neat Fort Worth TX and we have been having a heat wave. My old dog Mr. Cash has been really struggling with the heat (I have too) since when I adopted him from the pound he was infested with heartworms. They and the treatment to free him of them compromised his breathing. That is how dogs cool off, for the most part, on triple digit days. So, I said all that to ask if you could say a prayer for him. I don't believe in making a dog suffer to just be my companion. My concern is that he has begun to have congestive heart failure. He is 95 pounds and is 14 years old. Thanks for your videos. Sorry about the long post. GOD bless you all.

Hi Kevin, I know that Jason put out a couple of batches of these over time. You may need to spread these a couple of times to get the best benefit of them working. That being said, Jason spreads his in a larger more open area and you are placing them in the enclosed barns which may be more efficient and not require more. I just wanted to put this out there. It may take at least one more application. Just say'n. 😊 I so enjoy your videos. Thank you for sharing with us.

Kevin, all I could guess for the other insects you bought was Green Lacewings. The green lacewing (Chrysoperla sp.) is a common beneficial insect found in the floral landscape. They are a generalist predator best known for feeding on aphids, but will also control mites and other soft-bodied insects such as caterpillars, leafhoppers, mealybugs and whiteflies. Maybe that was it? The answer to most garden pests is the Tachinid fly, (family Tachinidae), any member of a family of insects in the fly order, Diptera. The feather-legged fly (Trichopoda pennipes), is famous for parasitizing squash bugs, stink bugs, and other true bugs. Other predatory insects including the bigeyed bug (Geocoris punctipes), Pagasa fusca and the damsel bug (Nabis sp) directly munch on the all the stages of squash bugs whereas the feather-legged fly adults parasitizes both the nymphal and adult squash bugs but adults of the scelionid wasp (Gyron pennsylvanicum) parasitizes eggs of squash bugs. Adult Tachinid flies lay eggs on the squash bugs, and the larvae consume squash bugs as food. Adult flies feed only on nectar and pollen, so they won't harm your vegetable plants. Ground beetles and damsel flies will also prey upon squash bug eggs if they can find them. Something that most people don’t remember to do is plant the foods that these predatory flies need to keep them in the area and working for you. They feed on sunflowers, carrots, dill, parsley, alfalfa, clover and radish flowers. Having a patch of these will keep them working in your garden for future cycles. Hope this helps.

I make fly traps from plastic milk jugs. Put an inch or so of water in the bottom, a few pieces or weenie or bits of meat, and cut a couple upside down V's near the top. Push the V in so flies are able to climb in the hole. And hang them in a tree. I use a couple of these traps when I go camping. Besides flies they catch yellow jackets too. They do tend to stink a bit, but that's when they start working the best. When you're through with them just put them in a garbage bag, tie it closed, and drop it in a dumpster.

These do work, but if you have fire ants, like we do, the ants get to the pupae before the flies can hatch. I've even tried hanging them in a little net bag off the fence, and the ants still found them. And chickens will eat the pupae. Takes about 2 weeks to break the fly cycle and see results. Also, if you have close neighbors who don't have their flies under control, you will still get them.

Don't get me wrong, I like all of them, otherwise I wouldn't watch them. But something about the way yall do your videos makes yall my favorite. You show everything exactly how it is and don't play things up for the camera. Not that the other channels necessarily do that, either. But yall just feel more natural and real along with showing a wide variety of things going on around the farm in each video. I don't know why I felt the need to post this comment, but just wanted to share that I appreciate yalls videos and get excited when I see a new post. Hope the wasps make a difference for you. I don’t live on a farm but the flies are horrible! When my dogs go out to potty they walk on the grass and 100’s of flies come out of the grass. Hoping this will work. I may try this!

@@lindamcclain9917 The liquid you create can penetrate the dogs skin. As well as, dogs create a oil to protect their skin. Your solution could affect the dogs. Could be you're contributing to Mr. Cash's condition using onions and garlic...even in the fashion of how you're using it. Rubbing alcohol will dry a dogs skin and vinegar will neutralize natural acids in the oils the dogs create and need. Just give the dog Comfortis...what I give my dogs, because it works and it's not harmful to dogs. I should note my wife is a veterinarian and I'm a MD. Also dogs will and so lick their legs, paws, etc.

@@ricks.1092 thank you I deleted my post. I will keep my opinions and thoughts to myself. My apologies. As I said in the post I only use it in the rainy season. I guess I didn't make it clear that i only used it on their legs and feet. I also wiped it off when they came back in. It rarely sat.on them for more than 1/2 hour. Mr. Cash's problem is he has pulmonary damage from adult heartworms living in his body to an advanced stage when I adopted him. It was so severe they did the treatment with what I believe was called the slow method. He has been heartworm free for 4 years but the damage was already done. Thank you again for your correction. I will try to keep myself in check.

@@lindamcclain9917 Linda, I sincerely hope you didn't delete your comment due to my initial response. If so, then repost it. I didn't mean to come off that way. Glad Mr Cash battled heartworm. Because usually when detected, the end results are not always good. So you're doing plenty of things correctly, to contribute to Mr. Cash's battle and defeating heartworm. Personally never understood why people don't provide the proper preventive meds to their dogs and cats. I reside in a small town (4200 pop.) And too many farmers/ranchers get their dogs on heartworm, flea meds. Again, if I came across a bit crass. I do want to sincerely apologize for my behavior. It was not my intent. I just want to help good people with sound knowledge.

@@ricks.1092 I knew better than to post that. So many people do not use common sense. My sensitivity or lack therof was most likely due to little sleep. Having a heat wave with only 1 window unit ain't fun but that's what happens when you are with very limited means. The day I adopted Mr. Cash he was already orange tagged (scheduled for euthanasia) as he was not thriving in the pound. He weighed the same the day I adopted him as when they picked him in and he had been there for 5 weeks. He weighed 69 pounds. He had a fungal and bacterial infection on his skin and was anemic and very sick with heartworms. Now he is a pretty healthy 95 pounds and my rubbing him down every so often with coconut oil has restored a healthy glow to his coat. I was a vet tech for a number of years. Black flies are horrible blood sucking creatures that take full advantage of those close to the surface blood vessels in dogs legs and tallywhackers. I have seen blood drip from their under parts because of those black flies. I was not thinking in my post. I wanted to be helpful but didn't think it could equally be harmful. Your correction was warranted. Thank you
