Shrimping is sport specific. The way it's done in BJJ won't work in another arena like mma. There's a better way to do it.

If anyone wonders who this guy is, John Danaher is a black belt under Renzo Gracie and trained Georges St-Pierre. He is obsessed with BJJ and trains it everyday, and wears a rash guard everyday, even showing up at weddings in a rash guard.

How many stripes does he have on his belt
@gibbacool20094 жыл бұрын
Jacob Robles it depends ! Some belts come with one white stripe at the right end of the red part of the belt and another at the left end ... if that’s the case he a 4 degree black belt.... now if the belt came without the two stripes on the ends of the red then he is a 6 dregree black belt.... a reminder : every black belt stripe means “ at least 3 years as a black belt ...and a black belt gets 7 stripes then it become a coral belt ( stripes of black and Red ) that’s when one becomes a Master of Brazilian Jiujitsu,Oss

He’s so long winded
@alexrosario4232 жыл бұрын
He's teaching. He's trying to cover several different ways to understand something so that it sticks to different types of people. It's obvious you probably absorb better when things are short and to the point (probably because of an attention deficit issue), but not everyone is like that. If you're able to pay attention, this style of teaching leads to more retention because the way things stick in our minds is by forming multiple ways of understanding a thing, which forms stronger neural connections in our brain. Say what you will about it, but it's obvious his style of teaching is extremely effective considering his track record.

You are correct. He’s very long winded. He has a degree in philosophy and it shows in his teaching style.
@samuraisteve27755 жыл бұрын
Actually disappointed. This is designed for Competition and not the original, old school self-defense. I will never be in that position in a real fight. Butt scooting? Seriously? Maybe the next one will be better. 🤞

If you're knocked on your ass in a fight, and you can't get up, you may find yourself in this situation.

*Darth Vaders voice* YOU DON'T KNOW THE POWER OF THE BUTT SCOOT!
@alexrosario4232 жыл бұрын
You actually do need scooting in a real fight situation to manage distance in order to get up safely. You literally see it in MMA all the time, you probably just don't pick up on it because it isn't flashy.
