In another documentary about this crime her dad said that in the initial days she was missing he tracked the guy down and convinced him to meet up to try to get any information at all from him. He said that as soon as he looked into his eyes he knew he had killed his child. But he played it cool to try and get more details. The resiliency and determination of the family is amazing.

The fact that she was kicked out of the bar for being too intoxicated (her friends said she drank the same amount as them and they suspected she was roofied) without all her stuff, and without getting her a cab or at least trying to get her a ride home honestly makes me feel sick, even if it was taking her to the hospital via ambulance (calling 911) so she could "sober up", this wouldn't have happened. Also the fact he had that cooler in his workplace around so many ppl, he was cocky and so confident he would never get caught.

Hearing stories like this always takes me back to a night in college on New Year’s Eve. I was in a college town. Walking home alone, and a man in a car pulled over asking if I wanted a ride home. While there may be well intentioned men out there, you never know. So I said no, but he followed me for a while, and once I knew he couldn’t see me, entered my home. You. Never. Know. Ladies, don’t risk it.
@beekneed
@beekneed Жыл бұрын
You did the right thing. No man should offer any woman a ride anywhere, ever. If he has sincere concerns for her wellbeing he should call the police and give them her location, period. If he wants, he can wait in his car until they get there. It doesn't matter if he's "a good guy" because the point I'm making is that this is what good guys should do, always, if they (or any woman, for that matter) are concerned and want to follow through. My husband and I saw a young woman stumbling along a dark street in the college town we lived in. After a brief "should we or shouldn't we?" conversation, we slowed and I asked her from the driver side window if she was okay. She was clearly extremely intoxicated. Fortunately, campus police were located less than a block away, across from our house. We called them. To this day I still feel bad about stopping instead of just calling. Just because. We shouldn't have given her the option to make a potential gravely dangerous decision. I too had walked along that same quiet street in my college days and sometimes feel the chill of regret for doing that, myself. No one, man or woman, SHOULD have to worry about walking alone at night. If something bad happens to them, it's not their fault but the fault of the piece of shit who does it. Still, I wish there was more awareness among young women about the real dangers they face. Stay well xx

Kenia's stepfather loved her sooooo much!!! It's heartwarming to see this much love from parent to child, because it's not always like that. The CCTV footage is terrifying, Kenia is so young, beautiful, intoxicated, and naive. This could have happened to me when I was in my 20's. To all the young women reading this, understand that the way the world SHOULD be and the way it IS are entirely different things. Protect yourself from predators, because they don't care what they should or should not do.

In his confession to police at the end, he said he left his credit card buried in the grave with her. When asked why, he said he didn't WANT to get caught, but figured if they found the body, then he deserved to be caught. So he left identification. Because of this statement, I think he may have sent that text to her the next day (knowing she was dead) because he unconsciously wanted to be caught and find redemption for his crimes. I'm just speculating. The other thing too is, sometimes the murderers or attackers insert themselves into investigations on purpose because they want to find out what the police know. Or they want attention. There are probably a variety of psychological reason, some may not be done intentionally. But the whole leaving the credit card behind thing, makes sense with him also sending a text to attract attention to himself. He was spiraling out of control.

It's an interesting one, though. You have to establish the person's baseline - that that's not something the individual does anyway. Some people aren't synchronised in their negatives/positives and head movements i.e. they don't match them up. Clearly, in this case it did mean that, but the two movements not matching isn't always an indication of deceit.

We spend so much time and effort teaching and lecturing women on how to avoid se*ual assault. Put your keys between your fingers like brass knuckles, don't get tipsy or intoxicated, dress modestly, take contraception just in case, carry pepper spray, carry a gun, don't go out alone, etc. I would love to see that much effort put into raising men who are taught emphatically to require the necessity of consent. I know so many wonderful, empathetic men. I want to have hope for our future, and for humanity to rein in their baser instincts.

I’ve been binging your videos since I found your channel in some recs on other true crime vids. True Crime and Forensic science has been a passion of mine since high school. You bring a mix of compassion, and humor, to your videos, while giving a very thorough deep dive to the stories that focuses on the victims and their families. In short, you do amazing work, and you’re doing a wonderful job for the families and victims as you’re helping get their story told, as well as helping myself, (and likely many others), get through the shitshow that has been 2020 and on. Take care, and keep yourself safe and healthy. Thanks for everything!

That's harder to distinguish because sometimes people nod to affirm their answer. It depends on their baseline, because there are people who say no, mean no, and nod to say "yes, the answer is no", and there are people who don't. That said, another possible red flag is the lack of contraction. Again, it depends on their baseline, but it's common to say "did not" instead of "didn't" if you're lying because you think it sounds more sincere.

@Alex F I always relied on my height and being built like a brick shithouse if and when I needed to walk around at night. Alert, walking with purpose, not giving anyone a reason to start something. It's not enough, unfortunately. A few close encounters showed me that some people are just mental and are looking for trouble. At least it got me learning self defense and fighting, but I don't want to walk around at night alone if I can help it. Sometimes a night walk is necessary because of my schedule but I stick to well lit and friendly neighborhoods and never go somewhere I don't know well.

Some of my best adventures have come from meeting new people and going to after parties. People shouldnt just stop doing that because something like this sometimes happens. Id say if youre a female, be cautious and take a friend with you. If the guy is nice and chill and normal, he shouldnt have a problem with bringing the girls friends too. Be suspect if he seems hesitant to take anyone but the female.
