After deliberating & researching, I bought this identical knife for $289. Reasons; it’s the brand chosen by Gov’t agencies. Co was established by ex-Microtech employees. 100% USA made. Newest version has a Hefty Elmax steel blade. Ideal size, fits most hands well. Operating it is very satisfying, with a “heavy clank” sound due to the blade’s mass, it’s a joyful feel. No un-needed glass breaker, which aid’s concealment. Blade-Play is a negotiable issue, but well within limits. Quality doesn’t come cheap. It’s a knife you won’t regret owning🏆.

Picked up a OD Green 035 awhile back with a Stonewashed Tanto and had Wayofknife bronze my hardware. I carry a Leatherman with the 035 as a handy quick deployable backup and for self defense.

Talked me into it. Just hit the submit button on an order for the 030 tanto blade. I have an Ultratech and a Dirac. The Dirac is easy to use. Can't say the same for the Ultra. I'm 74 with arthritic hands, especially the thumbs and the Ultra is just too stiff. Thanks for a great and informative review. Dano

Hey talon, love the videos man but I wanted to make a correction about the switch. The reason that the steel plate is there isn’t there to keep it from the anodized finish it’s there because of physics. Aluminum against aluminum has a surprisingly high coefficient of friction as compared to steel on aluminum. The reason the plate is there is to separate the aluminum switch from the aluminum body of the knife, so you get that buttery smooth action you were talking about. Love the channel man, keep it up!

That's exactly what I said brotha. Also steel cannot be anodized like aluminum so that's the given... the purpose of it is to create a less friction through the separation. Thanks for watching the channel 👍🏻

Nice knife but i carry a kershaw that i bought for $10 at Walmart it's razor sharp and holds a nice edge and cost a 28th of the price...I'm a poor farm boy and can't afford high price knives... but i do still look at all the knives you post.. really like this one with tanto blade.. looks really thick with nice grinds

If only the 40 came in other blade option's other than drop point, I would have rather gone with the 40 in double edge if they had them, that is why I went with the recon elite instead. Hopefully they make the 40 in different configurations sooner rather than later. The Elite has been awesome so far though. Only thing with it is there is noticeably more side to side blade play, but that is probably a side effect of the locking system and it is the smoothest blade travel I have seen yet. Those dudes are on to something over there at G.T.

I recently bought the Recon 035, and the deployment is significantly better than the Microtech Ultratech which I am now in the process of selling. The tango blade is in much better proportioned to the handle than the Ultratech which makes it more aesthetically pleasing.

Pennsylvania is a weird state with it's laws. I need a LTCF to carry concealed or in a vehicle. But I can walk around open carrying unless we're in a state of emergency. Which we are and have been for as long as I can remember because heroin. And those laws are also weird when it comes to knives.
