The area you were in the first little bit looks like the Ghost/Waiparous area. It's 40Km from my house so I spent lots of time up there with ATVs or Search and Rescue.

Cooper landing just outside of soldotna ak is absolutely beautiful, there is a trail there called Bear Mountain and at the end of the trail its unbelievable the view, I have been to kenai, soldotna, homer, anchorage, seward, juneau, and the ski resort Alyeska, alaska is beautiful and on another level, also check out denali
