Bravo for talking about sexual predators in the church. I train parents how to keep their kids safe from grooming (online and in person), sexual exploitation, and potential human trafficking and the church is usually the LAST place to invite these talks. There is a lie that says the church isn’t being “loving” if we call sin out and put up appropriate filters, boundaries, and safeguards. It is NOT “love” to lead our kids to slaughter simply because we remain ignorant or refuse to do background checks or stay vigilant in who is allowed in leadership or near children. (We think we are being “gracious “). Parents must educate themselves and stand guard at all times. Know the people in your children’s lives… know the media they watch, the social media they partake in, who is contacting them online, and NEVER allow them to have internet access in their room. EVER.

This is so good! We had to do background checks before serving at kids church. We have a looot of rules but like you say the church is also not innocent unfortunately

Great! I don't trust almost ANYONE with my kids. I am very cautious. I have to trust some people to watch my kids when I can't take them. But only both grandmas & aunts. No one else. Even them, I'm cautious. I wouldn't feel good about sleep overs. My husband was offended that I didn't want his brothers changing my kids diapers. He was offended because he thought I was saying his brothers were pedophiles. I explained that's not the case but for all I know (or even for all he knew) they could be. We only know what people show us & by God's grace what He shows us. I'm not about to trust people with my kids just because I think they're decent or are Christians. There's been too many cases of sexual abuse on my mom's side of the family. I know better. I don't care if people get offended.

Thank you so much for sharing Asher's story truthfully. I was so encouraged by Asher's testimony in 'Parenting through the Teenage Trenchers' episode when he spoke about courageously facing the challenges and paving the way for God to break off these things off of him. But when I hear you talk about the back story of it, I am so encouraged to hear how he as a 13-year-old overcame the fears I still struggle with as a 28-year-old. He persevered in the trial and battled against the demonic attack. I resonate with him of waking up in the night and just wanting to know that you guys are awake, that he is safe. He said in the other episode that you as parents were his biggest supporters because you modeled the path of courage for him and now you all get to witness the amazing courageous man God is moulding him to be. I only see the heavenly Father's love in this of how He sees me, He sees those demonic strongholds, the disrupted nights, He sees the struggle through the fears. And like you guys praying for Asher as parents, God is rooting for me to stand in boldness and not shrivel up in the past. Now if I am woken up at night, I will just know that my Abba Father is awake and He sees me, and His hand of grace is forever extended towards me, I just need to put my Hand in His. Logged on to see how to be a better adult and God ended up speaking to the child in me. Need to grab a box of tissues now. "Broken pieces of pain reformed into fixtures of promise and purpose" - That's a journal-worthy statement. Thank you so very much for your honest conversations.

Thank you for this authentic discussion! We chose to set a rule of no sleepovers at all. Technically we have stayed with friends as an entire family on vacation, we allowed camps once they turned 12, and we have allowed some pretty late nights. I’ve had kids and parents respond oddly to this rule which didn’t feel good at the time but in retrospect this rule has given our family so much peace. Dumb stuff happens at sleepovers a lot and kids should understand that. Now that my kids are older they would rather have a late night with their friend and come home to their own bed at night.

We have really been strufgling with particular things and i just felt the anointing come into my kitchen and minister to me. And soften areas of my heart that hardened from my own disappintment in myself as a parent in patenting. Thank You Jesus!!! FREEEDOM!!! Man, you all are such a blessing. Im parenting 5 beautiful gifts, and we are a ministry family too. So it's not always easy, but man, our journey with Jesus is priceless and our kids love their journey with Him❤ Bless you, Beveres! We love you all!

So emotional watching and I pray as parents we will know that it's also our responsibility to protect our children. I remember seeing a 20 year old male adult fondling with the hand of my 13 year old son in church. My husband and I dealt with the issue right there without fear and people around were not happy because they thought we're in church so that adult won't have a negative mind. As Christians we sometimes miss it when it comes to dealing with issues that needs to be corrected. God be our help🙏

THIS WAS SUCH A POWERFUL EPISODE! Although you all had notes of what you planned to discuss, I believe the Holy Spirit had a different way and you all yielded to His Flow. Thank you for your sensitivity and transparency!!!!🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 I'm still fairly a new mom with a 2yr old and one on the way and this episode truly confirmed the stewarship and responsibility I believe my hubs and I have to protect our children ESPECIALLY with such an evil agenda geared towards the children in this time we're in. Lastly, we just found out we are expecting our second Blessing, and praying it's a boy(as our first is a girl). What's cool is that I have decided that if it's a boy his name will be Asher. You all are the first parents I've heard who have named their son Asher. My hubs and I are big on the meaning of names and how it can prophecy over the child and their future, such as how we've witness throughout the Bible. Just curious, was there a specific reason or the meaning of Asher given for you all naming your son and other children?

🔥🔥Question! Where is the balance of grace as a parent for our mistakes, shortcomings or exhaustion and a holy fear of God and the calling he has given us as parents? I’m so thankful for grace but want to see my calling as a mom rightly while not being too hard on myself and not using grace as an excuse for where I fall short. 😬 I realize I should prob get Johns book, but I’d love to hear you guys talk about it too. Also this podcast we super helpful with similar questions about sleepovers we’ve had!

Thank you. We don’t do sleepovers and we believe our bedrooms are personal and safe places and we don’t need to breach that. And I love the “we don’t know who will be in and out of that house” that is exactly how we feel and parent our kids. I don’t trust people, and personally don’t care if someone doesn’t like that or feels offended, it’s about our child’s safety. I couldn’t send my child alone on a plane though.

This podcast has been a God sent during a rough period in my life. My question is: how do you give u adult (bad) news to a child without stealing their innocence simultaneously? For some context: We are a family of faith, but my husband is currently battling stage 4 colon cancer that continues to progress despite treatment. He has been battling it since our daughter was 1.5yo (she is now 5), so she is aware things are different in our house, but not exactly why. Having another opinion/direction from someone of faith would be incredibly helpful ❤️. Thank u for all that u guys do! For John's amazing faith filled books and Lisa's sermons online (that I've watched many of).

What a blessing that this very needed discussion is. I would like you to address, perhaps in a future episode, what does a child do when the parents are the predators. Whether it is through verbal, emotional, physical abuse, where there is an abandonment of nurturing on the part of the parents. An absence of the qualities that this podcast addressed. Some of these wounds are far reaching in the damage caused by those who are supposed to nurture and support you. They instead are the ones that destroy you. The only safe place I found, praise God, was to find healing in my Saviour. There I will stay. I don’t trust this world. I only trust God. Amen

THANK YOU FOR THIS PODCAST! It's truly encouraging hearing your stories, how yiu went through challenges. That's what is so missing in the World today: healthy, godly family (not pretending they are perfect) sharing their experience, advices, knowledge, being humble in the same time.❤ So question: 2nd child is coming. How to prepare ourselves and 1st child for this (1st child will be then 2 yo, so understandalready but not enoughto have big conversation)? How is the beginning of new child being at home? What to remember about and what to avoid (as well in the content of 1st child, but not only)? How it's different from the first child being born? What was your story? And anything else around this topic, what you personally think it's important to share. Thank you in advance! ❤

Thank you for this! I don't let my kids to stay over in their friends house until I know for sure that my kids understand and aware and be able to say "No" to someone if they don't feel right or comfortable with it even though that person is the parent or anyone who are older or younger or have authority. I told them until you are confident to say "No" to these people, I won't let you stay over to someone house. My daughter who is 20 years old now thought it was Asian things because I'm Asian. I told her it's not because I don't trust you but I don't trust these people😅 for I don't know them personally and people tend to hide things behind their doors. Now, I'm dealing the same thing with my 10years old boy. But this time it's easier because my daughter back me up.

It doesn’t matter someone’s title; pastor, leader, etc. Don’t just trust anyone with your kids. I think sleepovers are just unnecessary. They’re really not needed, kids need to have boundaries and being home to sleep is a healthy boundary.
