Just so you know: the Asgardian 'gods' are basically just really powerful aliens too, so don't worry about them having their own category, because the only people that think they are 'gods' are themselves (out of arrogance), and ancient humans who worshipped them just because they were powerful

Most people thought this movie was going to bomb hard when it was announced, It is one of my favorite Marvel movies. Chris Pratt was a made man as soon as he started dancing to "Come And Get Your Love". The soundtrack was a big reason why this movie was so good. It is rare to have this many licensed songs in a superhero movie. There have been exceptions like Batman (1989), but that only had songs from one singer, Prince. Also the comedy works so well in this movie.

@@natevanslyke990 The whole Endgame storyline is responsible for killing the MCU (if it wasnt being destroyed on purpose by ideologically driven writers & producers), because it is "ultimate threat level" ... and thus any movie coming after it will be "dull" in comparison. The whole stupid mass battles in the movies are POINTLESS and simply "a bunch of colours on screen with no real meaning to them"; lots of people DYING without any possibility of "caring" for them. There is a reason why Iron Man is such an awesome movie: it is about the character journey of ONE PERSON ... and thus has the time to "do it right". The Endgame movies dont have that scope and thus are HOLLOW in comparison.

@@Muck006yep. I do honestly miss when it was superheroes fighting against people using tech (or in the case of ironman tech vs tech/science). There is a world where they slowly introduce the universe and add more aliens. The multiverse should have been kept to the rules established in Dr. Strange. Endgame and Loki is where everything went terribly wrong. Watching the movies back with the knowledge of things like Wanda Vision and MoM absolutely ruin it.

Groot is actually the prince of a very advanced and old race. He does not only say "I am groot" but his language as actually so complex it is the only thing our brains can process. If you listen closely their are many intonations and variants of how he says it. Rocket has been with him so long he actually "understands" him. Fun fact "groot" in Dutch (pronounced differently) is the word for tall/big so "I am groot" for us translates to "Ik ben groot" or "I am big/tall" which makes perfect sense. :-)

Between the huge slate they’ve announced for Marvel and Star Wars, there’s going to be a point where fans are gonna have to decide how much time they’re really willing to devote to all of them. Like I’m sorry, but I’m already shitty at managing my time as an adult. I can’t make a commitment to show after show after show. Especially when there are still plenty of other movies/shows I want to check out. And this is only for those of us that can afford Disney+ in the first place! And as a byproduct it forces reaction channels to keep doing THEIR shows consistently, just to stay up to date and get optimal views (Which I’m NOT saying I blame reaction channels for doing). This new Groot isn't the original Groot, more of his son. When the GotG comic by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning came out they used Groot who was an obscure character previously and later clarified the Groot in GotG wasn't the Groot from Planet X that we'd seen previously, but its child, so they managed to do that in the film as well. And the lights he gave off at the end weren't living fire flies but bioluminescent pollen inspired by bioluminescent foxire that exists here on earth thanks to certain fungi. It's usually in dying wood though, so it may have also been a hint at Groot's fate, but I haven't seen Gunn mention it (thought I don't own GotG on blu-ray, so I don't know if he mentioned it in the commentary).

I absolutely love this movie because it was, in my opinion, the biggest MCU surprise. I went into it knowing the basics, but I honestly didn't expect much. I thought it'd be like Thor: Dark World where it was ok, but compared to others it was just another movie. But this movie really stood out. The sound track was absolutely top tier (even though I think the 2nd movie has an even better one), and the chemistry was PHENOMENAL. They did such an amazing job casting every single character. This is still one of my favorite MCU movies because it's just pure fun -- and if you like this then I have a feeling you'll really like Thor: Ragnorak once you get to that.

What I love about James Gunn is that he knows comedy, he's bloody good at comedy, but he always knows when to let a moment be and not undercut it with a joke. That's my only real criticism of the humour in other marvel films, that sometimes it can be a bit cheesy or ruin a moment it shouldn't have. Never a problem with Mr Gunn

Two things I wanna mention. One: one of the most AMAZING actors ever, Christopher Fairbanks, he played the Broker. Dude is a freaking chameleon! I’d seen him in stuff for years but never realized it until I saw him in Doctor Who because he was dressed almost like his character in the 1989 Batman film. He was the thug Michael Keaton hangs over the building and then says, “I’m Batman,” to. Another one of my favorites he was in was The Fifth Element. Two: The single most painful experience in my life was holding my fiancée’s hand as she passed away. The beginning of the movie now gets me every time. I’m grateful I was able to do it and that I was there to help her pass on, but I would not wish that experience on anyone!

I am not sure about this, but I do THINK that Drax's little dunk in the Celestial's cerebrospinal fluid did SOMETHING to him, as he seems MUCH more durable in later movies. Speaking of the Celestials... They play a bigger part in the MCU in later movies like Eternals(2021). Since you like this movie so much, you should watch the same director's(James Gunn) DC universe movie The Suicide Squad (2021)... You do not have to have seen any of the other DC universe movies to see this one... Actual wild raccoons are hilarious characters. I remember eating later than usual one night with my family. It was dark outside and the rear wall of our house was mostly glass that looked out upon a large deck. The blinds were open and I looked up from my food to see an entire family of 5+ raccoons standing on their hind legs, front feet and faces pressed against the glass and licking it like they were eating with us. The toddlers started cooing about the new "kitty-cats" but our teacup sized dog stayed silent on the subject.
