The ending of this film means so much to me. My step father married my mother when I was 4 and then adopted me when I was 8. He loved me as if I was biologically his, and never treated me differently than his own biological son. Like Yondu said, he may not have been my father, but he was my dad. He raised me, cared for me, loved me, and showed me how to be the man I am today, things my biological father missed out on completely. While I like the first film better, the ending of this one hits me every time.

Sylvester Stalone's team at the end (plus Yondu) were the original Guardians of the Galaxy in the comics. the team we follow in the movies was a newer team that Marvel Studios felt would do better for a movie. personally, i'd like a short movie (or even an animated special) about the OG team with a younger Yondu as the lead one day lol

The growth of the characters in this movie (and upcoming movies they appear in) is one of the reasons I love the Guardians so much. Rocket seems like a jerk to everyone, but he's doing it because of his fear of losing the only family he's ever had. Him realizing it at Yondu's funeral was a real tear jerker when I saw it the first time, and the line, "...and he stole batteries he didn't need" still hits me now and then. Nebula's journey in this movie is amazing, but where she ends up by [movie title redacted because spoilers] is even better. One moment that is also touching is Drax and Mantis sitting by the pool. No words are exchanged, but Mantis touches his shoulder while he thinks about his daughter and immediately breaks down in tears. Inside his rough exterior, Drax is perhaps the most in touch with his feelings of loss, and that scene shows it perfectly. Such a great movie, glad it connected with you.

"What kind of team is this?" Based on the original Guardians of the Galaxy comic, which was a completely different group far in the future. Actually, the one I was familiar with before these movies. It was an interesting comic series that showed a future, with influences from the regular Marvel universe. Like one of the first stories was a quest to find Captain America's shield which in that future was seen as more of a mystical artifact (It wasn't but that's how it was considered). There were appearances by descendants of the current heroes, and new identities of the heroes that were long lived or near immortal.

@@dabreal82 Yeah, I wasn't trying to claim they were or should be. If the movies were exactly the same they'd be redundant. I was just pointing out some information. Also my comment isn't even about the movies and comics being different, as much as different versions of the comics. The old version that I used to read, and the newer one with the team that this movie is actually based on.
@The_RedVIII2 жыл бұрын
I think this is actually even better than the first one. This one has a much higher emotional stakes, it has much more backstory to the characters and so much more character development. Fun Fact: Kraglin, Yondu's 2nd in command (the guy that gets Yondu's arrow in the end) is Sean Gunn, the Director/Writer James Gunn's brother. The music from Guardians has been so popular. I'm old enough to remember when many of these songs were first released, and it's been great to see a new generation enjoy them. @inarar53342 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure people 100% get what happens there. Like, Drax is sitting there completely stone faced, and when Mantis touches him, she's almost overwhelmed by his grief. And he still sits there stone faced as she reflects what he's actually feeling inside.
@muhammadnazrin33902 жыл бұрын
@@inarar5334 Yeah that's the beauty of it, Drax has always been a punch line with him being so literal of everything. His also a typical depiction of masculinity with how blunt and aggressive he is, and how he always manifested the lost of his family with anger up to this point. That is until Mantis was able to act as a reflection for his true feelings under all that machismo. Not only that, the pain that he felt for the lost of his family was the catalyst for why Mantis wanted to confess Ego's crimes to him, because she now understood those should be the feelings held by a parent who lost their child. The pain that Ego never felt as he massacred his own children, the only pain(the one that supposedly keeps him up at night) that he felt was being unable to accomplish his dream, because his children were "failures".

What really hits me about this movie is that Ego had what he wanted. He admits that he LOVED Meredith Quill, and that he knew if he went back to visit her again, he'd never leave. He'd found what he'd been looking for his whole existence: connection and love. But his Ego was so overblown he couldn't recognize it. And even if his plan had worked, he'd still be alone, just with hordes of himself around. He still wouldn't really find that connection and belonging he wanted.

I don't understand why people aren't fond of Peter's character. It was him that ultimately brought them together, all the things that made him human and came from earth, that ended up uniting them and building friendships. They never would have done that on their own. There are so many ways he has influenced them, at the beginning when Rocket said he did the music because Peter loves "Tunes", but he also did it because he came to enjoy them too. That's Peter's influence and how his Mother played a part in that, how he even impacted Yondu.
