This game beings into question something that the dice tower may want to consider. Since good us in fact no longer good enough and games need to be great in order to stand out these days, should the dice tower continue to give out approval stamps to just good games? The dice tower approved stamp means something to me, it's a critical rating by reviewers I respect, and while a good game is still a good game it's now just a good game. I recognize that there is the gold stamp for excellent games and that is a higher level, but should just good games even get a silver stamp anymore? I dont know, maybe i think too much.

They changed it now. Excellence is only given to 8.5 and up, was 8.0 before :)

Game feels like a mish-mash of Smash-Up and Ashes:Rise of the Phoenixborn. Seems like a pass for me, as both of those games were super boring; and I ended up selling or trading mine away. And I agree Tom, it will be a once or twice played then shelved. I'm sure it will appeal to someone tho.

lol, they even have "ultimate" cards and they control certain areas to win. sounds like the control capture point mode from OW as well.

Agreed, but even though they are "generic" there is unlimited variation that could have been used. The characters and game just scream copy. I get very little these days is 100% original, it's not necessarily a bad thing either, but take from multiple sources for inspiration.

@@thedicetower Well, I talk with some of the folks at Plaid Hat at GenCon, and they told me the design was meant to simulate a MOBA. You have three "lanes" where a team of 5 heroes (all with "ultimates") battle for control? Sounds like a MOBA to me. Having played the game, I would say it has done a better job than most games (excpet maybe Rum and Bones) that has tried to replicate the genre at recreating the feel.

@@KissellMissile A specific kind of MOBA, actually: hero shooters. Paladins and Overwatch being the prime example.

Why do you describe it as a 2-4 player game when there's no 3 player option? Is there any technical problems to write "2 or 4"?

Remnds me of Smash up and maybe the old WildStorms CCG. I found Smash Up insanely boring... I like the art in this.. The card design is really nice, but game play looks pretty ho-hum.. Sadly, a pass.. but if they did some comics for these characters, I might check it out ;)

Locations with Victory Points. Characters on locations. Characters have power stats. Characters can be moved to different locations. Characters are selected and come with their own decks that are put together at the start of the game. Some cards are stronger than others, the strongest are only a few...my god. This is literally Smash Up. But with a weaker theme and way less identification potential. Unfortunately a pass.
