LMS 46115 Scots Guardsman would be at the helm of the 2nd Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express from London Euston to Carlisle over the West Coast Mainline via Shap bank with the return back via the Settle and Carlisle line. 46115 would take over from the electric at Carnforth for the 1 in 75 climb of Shap Bank . The Scot is seen climbing from Salterwath towards the summit at Shap Wells , the green footbridge in the cutting and at Shap Summit . The return sees 46115 at wet and dismal Stockber .Apologies for the poor sound in the final shot as it seems a bit muffled oddly and oddly the third clip has lost clarity in the editing suite. . Thanks to Nige for the company and lift.

Brilliant shots of the Scot at Shap Steve the weather in the morning was much more favourable were as pm it went wet in my local area, although it did not look to bad further north by your good results on the S & C. Thanks for sharing Brian

The Scot still wasn't right unfortunately so was one of the reasons they needed the diesel on the back. Had it not been on the back then they still would've added it on at Hellifield.
@TheStephengthompson
@TheStephengthompson Жыл бұрын
@@MasterMoyle Thanks David, was told West Coast insisted on adding the 47 but according to my sources the Scot passed it’s FTR without any issues. As for Hellifield it’s a good job the diesel was on as apparently the water pipe to the water column was still frozen hence the Scot was pushed from Hellifield.

I went on that tour and going up Shap she really wasn't keeping quiet as they certainly had the regulator open going up the 1 in 75 climb. The front passenger brake coach behind the support coach is where I was seated. From the M6 overbridge at Tebay to Shap Summit they managed the climb in 7 minutes 31.1 seconds at a minimum speed of 33mph.
@43155
@43155 Жыл бұрын
I was on the tour also and WCRC staff said the 47 was there to provide train heat and to provide assistance if needed. However, she performed well and sounded good, I enjoyed it that’s the main thing.
@MasterMoyle
@MasterMoyle Жыл бұрын
@@43155 had to push the train after Hellifield though as the ruddy mains had frozen up so watering couldn't be done.
