Gudauri in 1868 was primarily a remote part of the Georgian Military Road, a strategic route connecting Tbilisi in Georgia to Vladikavkaz in Russia. This area, located in the Greater Caucasus mountains, was known for its rugged terrain and scenic beauty, making it a popular subject for artists and travelers of the time. The Romantic painter Ivan Aivazovsky created a piece titled "From Mleta to Gudauri" in 1868, capturing the dramatic landscapes and the challenges of traversing these mountainous paths. At the time, Gudauri itself was not yet the developed ski resort it is today but was part of the vital passage through the Caucasus, used by traders, soldiers, and explorers.

most people with time machines have lofty ideas, but i think just traveling the roads behind a large caravan like a mute fly on the wall would be incredible on its own, to see the world in its raw state without it being covered in steel and concrete

Listening while reading "The Rhyme of The Ancient Mariner" by Coleridge and it added so much depth and made me feel part of the narration. Your music is truly mesmerizing and paired with the paintings it really makes you travel through time and space!
