Thank you, Dariush for the wonderful video. Thanks to you I'm in love with several Guerlain classics. I guess I'll have to buy Jicky as the coming summer main cologne! Wasser is often criticized, but I find that he's doing a very good job at Guerlain, not only keeping the classics in good shape, but also enriching Guerlain's portfolio. Everytime I wear Guerlain Homme EDP, I get taken with how elegant, unique, and at the same time reserved it is. L'Homme Ideal EDP is also a remarkable work. Musc Noble mimics the classic Arabian white musc, but it does so very convincingly, I find.

@@Persolaise Thank you Persolaise! :) I just got it today, and it smells exactly like walking in fields in the countryside. The lavender notes are calming. About 5 minutes in I think I started smelling the civet notes come in, and I was a bit surprised about it, but then it started mellowing out over time to more gentle lavender scent. I have a sample of Mon Guerlain and I noticed both were very similar with the lavender notes, Mon Guerlain is more sugary, whereas Jicky is more organic for me. I can see it being an aromatherapy option for me after a long work day. It's not fruity, it's a mellow fragrance that makes me feel like I'm in a tranquil countryside.

Just bought my first bottle of Jicky EDP this week after smelling it for the first time 34 years ago! I was going to a NYE party in Paris and a woman was walking ahead of me in the street in a fur coat. And walking in her perfume was a dream. So I walked a little bit faster and found the audacity to ask her what she was wearing and she answered “Jicky from Guerlain”. A few days later I rushed to the perfumerie to try and buy a bottle and just didn’t like it on my skin. 🥲 I was 18 yo and not educated about civet 😂 And last week I smelled it again and the magic happened (better now than never ;). I am on my way to buy an Extrait bottle ❤

I love and wear Jicky edp and I like it even more on my boyfriend. I am dying to smell the extrait. Think of me what you like everybody but I believe that Jicky has really been Jacque Guerlain's first perfume. He was still in training with his uncle Aimé at the time and they might have been reluctant to launch it under his name. Or maybe it was a cooperation between both of them. Thank you Persolaise for presenting and loving all these wonderful classic creations!

Wonderful video. I recently bought Jicky. I was intrigued by what I read about it. I read “crotch,” not “poo,” but there you go. I don’t smell either, really, but there is a “funkiness” to it lurking in the background. Sort of humorous. 😊

Thank you for sharing your love and impressions on Jicky extrait de parfum. I also love Guerlain and Jicky. I'm on my 2nd 100 ml bottle of the EdT version, which I love to wear in bed, as it feels calming and reassuring to me in the drydown or in the morning after a shower to give me an energizing boost. Jicky is the closest thing to a signature scent I have, but it has to share the title with Feminite du Bois. I guess signature scents aren't a thing anymore. People these days either profess to olfactory serial monogamy or are collectors, while I buy bottles and use them up. I have worn Jicky since my teens and have gone through countless eau de toilette bottles and two extrait ones. The latter were wildly different. My first, the purse spray in the gaudy gold lattice casing from the mid 90's was far heavier and oriental leaning. The second was the 30 ml. with the "Champagne cork" stopper (forgot what it's called, but you're holding it so why this monologue?), and was decidedly lighter and closer to the EdT. I'm so fed up with the Sean Connery and gender discussions, and prefer to paraphrase Colette, who loved it because it was witty, without being coarse - like the better conversationalists. Who wouldn't want to smell like that? It's been some years since I owned it. The counters in Stockholm no longer curry it, and frankly I have been worrying about It's health. But you make me realise I have been a bit of a snob. Whatever the state of it's current and future reformulations, it will always be in a league of it's owm. Even if it Guerlain try to make it more "current". I loved the Parfum de Toilette of L'Heure Bleue and while I would love to have it back, in retrospect I get the 80s/90s feel. It was probably even a higher concentration than the 1912 extrait! About sandalwood, I have a bottle of santalum album from the Pacific Islands and to me it smells just like the Mysore type of yore. And it has to be five years old, so there's clearly mature trees growing. But then I can't smell the difference between bergaptene-free bergamot and the "real" thing. (I still have the press kit from when Samsara was released. Am I really just a mortal?)
@Persolaise4 жыл бұрын
What a wonderful comment to receive and read. Thank you! Treasure that press release. Just think how wonderful it would be if we could smell every formulation of every Guerlain ever made!

How would you compare edp and extrait? Sorry if I missed that in your review. I adore edp apart from the civet note, it gets unpleasant in the heart. But I read quite a few reviews that extrait is different in this respect and civet is a lot tamer, and some even said it's not perceptible in extrait. What are your thoughts? PS: nevermind, it's too late to answer now, I've just bought it😄fingers crossed i'll love it. Read a few days ago that it's not in production anymore in that bottle as few other extraits. And will be back in a bee bottle (125ml if I'm not mistaken).
@Persolaise2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. From memory, yes, the extrait is more 'rounded'. Do let me know what you make of it.
@tubereuse_criminelle2 жыл бұрын
@@Persolaise I have received it last night and let me tell you I'm thrilled! To cut the long story short it feels like completely different quality ingredients are used to create edp and extrait ranges. While edp is rouge-ish, in your face lavender animalic (which I've been hovering around for few months now). Extrait is exquisite work of art where civet makes sense as it emphasizes mouthwatering vanilla whipped cream nuances, and creates depth. I adore it. Thanks for recommending.
