It's so refreshing to watch a 'live' fragrance review, when so many youtube reviewers seem to need Hollywood style cut editing to make their reviews. This is one of the rare designer releases that interests me!

Over an hour into EDP vs. Extreme and EDP is definitely the winner 🏆. Love the cherry 🍒 notes of the EDP. Thanks for the great reviews 👌 and really appreciate the later dry-down comments.

i can feel the prices increasing on secondary markets with the old red bottle...they just have to constantly change everything for no reason other than just to change stuff (and save a few bucks). The note line-up looks interesting on this honestly.

Picked this up yesterday and I am so pleased you have done a review so now looking forward to hearing your views. I love the EdP. Update: Oooff fabulous review! Thank you. Really enjoyed listening to your description and I thought Courvosier feel so the cognac opening was true 😄

@@Persolaise Hi! I wore it today and I really enjoyed how it wore on my skin. I completely get the Cognac-esque opening, and I am not sure how this accord is made up from, but I also found a sour (in a good way) Plum which perhaps helped pull together that boozyness. The heliotrope I felt helped soften the mid, its not extreme at all 😄. It did remind me of the original, and I still felt it had a sweetness but dialled back as you said by some way. It opens quite loud but then softens. My No1 remains EdP! Love the rose and the incense. Thank you for your response and your thorough reviews and amusing chatter is always a pleasure 😄 Oh! And it lasts as a skin scent a long time, still on my arm 12 hours later.

I actually want to buy the EDT since I own the Cologne which seems to be a mishmash or pamplelune and the original EDT. Hope to get my nose on this one. The EDP did not wow me. I though TF lost cherry did a better job of creating a sensuous almond/cherry accords. Thanks for the video Persolaise!

Thank you for watching. I never did manage to give Lost Cherry a proper test.

I couldn't agree more. The term " office scent" kills any interest i could have on a fragrance. I immediately think of a very very boring fragrance. Also the EDP is my favourite of the line. Nice video!

Thank you, Stelios. I don't think I'll ever use the term 'office scent'.

Hi, Dariush! You've written and spoken a lot about the Guerlain classics, for which I'm really grateful because some of them have become my favourite. Do you think it would be interesting to make a "nerdy" video about your take on how the brand has been "struggling" to develop since, say, late 1990s? Put simply, a list of more recent creations -- including the flankers of the classics -- that you like (or dislike).
@Persolaise4 жыл бұрын
Wonderful idea -- I'll definitely give it some thought. Thanks for watching.
@thefragrancewriter4 жыл бұрын
Usually the word "extreme" makes me shudder in this price range, since it usually means something of the likes of an overdose of iso-e super. But I would hope with a company like Guerlain, they wouldn't go that route. Likewise, when Bulgari released Man Extreme, they managed to still create a great fragrance without over-loading with a chemical smell (but at the same time, it still wasn't very "extreme") sounds like this would be a more please-able "extreme" as well

I found a bottle of LHI Cologne at TJ Maxx for a song, that’s the only one I have sniffed. I do enjoy it, but find the range of flankers head-scratching. Sadly that seems to be where we are with mainstream perfumery.

At this point, are these actually "Guerlain" any more? Guerlain Homme Intense (now rebranded as Guerlain Homme EdP) was nice. I love my bottle Habit Rouge EdT from 2017, but then last year I got hold of an older 'golden cap' bottle of the EdT. It was a smack to the nose and mind alike, so ridiculously good that I bought two more 'golden cap' bottles. Life is short and it doesn't make sense (to me) to commit to okay/acceptable perfumes when things could be so much better. I'm currently looking for Mitsouko Parfum de Toilette from the 80s, and have stopped paying attention to the newer Guerlain releases. P.S. On your blog, it seems the links for the reviews of Musc Intense and New York Intense (both Nicolai) lead to pages that contain no corresponding review. Your videos are awesome, but still not as enjoyable as your written content! Thank you!
@Persolaise4 жыл бұрын
You're certainly not alone with your concerns about 'modern' Guerlain. For what it's worth, I think their output is still worth paying attention to. Thanks for the info about the reviews -- I know there are still some glitches from when I moved over from Blogger last year.

Awesome beautiful scent. Horrible performance and longevity. It becomes a skin scent at the 1 hour mark. The whole line is ass backwards with EDT being the strongest, and the EDP being OK and the extreme being the weakest.

There are too many L’Homme Ideals. This should be the last. I have the EDP (my favorite), Cologne, and EDT. The L’Intense was the opposite of intense and Cool was forgettable, like the Sport. They’re all fine but nothing extraordinary. I prefer the mojito-like Homme line. I also prefer the Sauvage and Bleu lines to L’Homme Ideal.
@Persolaise4 жыл бұрын
Fair enough :-) Heaven knows, Sauvage and Bleu have proved to be extremely successful. Yes, I always found Homme more interesting than L'Homme Ideal, but I gather the former didn't do very well. Many thanks for watching.
