Excellent review. I just purchased the newer iteration for my mother for her birthday. Smells beautiful. I like how in depth and philosophical you are in your reviews. No other person on KZbin goes that deep talking about fragrances. I also am an “oversprayer”. I just think of it as the equality of regular spraying with old school fragrances. New ones are weaker so gotta spray more for the same vibe.

I wanted to thank you for this review. I'm wearing this tonight. The sandalwood in this is so lovely, and the way it mixes with the ylang ylang and everything else is really such a nice combination. I'd never heard of Samsara before you posted this video in September and picked up a bottle immediately. The warmth I get from this is perfect on a cool night like tonight. I wouldn't have picked this one up if it wasn't for you, so I really owe you my thanks.

Dacob, your videos inspire me. I have been on the hunt for a bee bottle EDP of Samsara for ages! I was able to smell it in Scotland at a duty-free shop in January after having this perfume in the back of my mind since you recommended it. I fell in love. And like a fool, I waited to buy to see if it would last. It was the one that got away! If I had known it would be so hard to find back in the states, I would have bought three bottles. Appreciate the review as I was curious about Guerlain's most recent reformulation(s). Yeah, I'm going to stick with Guerlain vintage. I have the original Samsara EDT (clear bottle) and the sandalwood is exquisite: it won't be in the new version. // * I Agree!* ... don't apply an "appropriate" sex or age to a perfume. don't do that! // And you're right, we have extinguished the Mysore sandalwood trees (almost) so I don't think they should be used, today. However, as long as we can still buy what's already around, I shall do so as it is my favorite note ever used in perfumery.

Thank you and good point: buying vintage where and when possible is the best way to go also in terms of preservation of the planet. Use what is already there rather than purchasing always new. I for example only purchase used furniture. I do not buy new furniture because I feel there is so much beautiful furniture already out there that somebody doesn't need or want any more so I am glad to buy it from them. This way the furniture does not become waste and garbage. The only "furniture" I buy new are mattresses for my bed (to sleep on). I need those to be hygienically really clean if I am to sleep on them for many years. xoxo

There were a lot of amazing ship builders in my town, and they knew how to build a sturdy New England house, also. Today is the first time I've seen your channel. As a 42 yo middle eastern man, Samsara is well known among men & women. Here in UAE fragrances never marketed towards specific gender, like ppl dont care about that, so we wear women perfumes with no problem. Samsara sets in my cabinet forever. It wont shadowed or forgotten by what i called the invasion of clones, specially Dubai has now a bad reputation as the the capital of perfume clones. Anyone... Thank you for another epic review. My Samara is the EDP. I dare not try the EDT. Knowing my luck, I will love it and decide that I need both, which will be too expensive. I will stick to the EDP. (It happened to me once before! I had decided to buy Dior Farenheit and tried EDP & EDT. They were very different on me and I ended up buying neither because I couldn't make up my mind which to have and I could not afford both. I like the new bottle, but it annoys me that it is to be used for all perfumes. It is a lovely bottle in itself, but I enjoy some individuality. But I like the historical associations. Napoleon III holds no positive vibes for me, but Eugenie receives some credit as a style icon. Many blame her for the crinoline (Queen Victoria was truly fond of Eugenie, but even she blamed her for the 'contraption'), but I suppose Eugenie, like all the other wearers, was more a victim than perpetrator and she is more to be pitied than blamed. Have a lovely day! PS: I forgot to tell you that my ENCRE NOIR arrived today. I tried it on and I like it very much, smell and bottle. Thank you for the recommendation!

My mom used it in the 90s and the new formula is not as dramatic and memorable as the red bottle. It was a warmer smell. Not the same anymore.

I think I have I have already commented this on some of your videos but I really do respect Guerlain when it comes to their reformulations. It seems that they are still trying to keep the spirit/idea of the original perfume and at least 3 years ago it seemed that they reformulated only when they had to. E.g. I manage to get EDC of Shalimar from 60s, and today formulation of Shalimar is not the same but the essence is still there - it is still Shalimar. Based on your review of Liu I am trying to get a bottle of it to get the original idea of Chanel No. 5 (to compare how Chanel reformulates). In comparison, Dior is my most hated brand when it comes to reformulations. With my body chemistry, the bottle of Hypnotic Poison from 2003 smells completely different than the versions from 2010 and 2014. It is a different fragrance. I would not be against reformulations (you do what you had to do) but if they at least decreased prices.

Went to try samsara and l'instant, both in EDP. New bee bottle. I was chocked...they are do diluted from what I knew. I have the feeling that each time there is a New packaging, there is also a new formula change.( Having saying that , pour m.chanel EDP is better than the concentré.)....going back to Guerlain...again...a complet rip off for me.( PS: diluted EDP 100ml for 145 euros for samsara and l'instant) I do not know how much it retails in the us, bonne journée à toi. Yes, Samsara is watered down. Yes, it is weaker. Yes, it is a shadow of itself... but its still a heck of a lot better than most perfumes out there at the moment. I made a review and comparison of POUR MONSIEUR EDT concentree and EDP. I like the EDP as well. xoxo

Try if you can the edp in the red bottle. There is a difference between the red bottle and the new bee bottle (edp). Bee is more vanilla and it has less stages, goes fast into the dry down that is sweet, and has less complexity. ( hope I wrote well the word ;) ) love your videos! greetings!

I would strongly suggest you get a vintage on Ebay, Dacob. If you bring along a little patience you can get one for really cheap. I got a vintage 30ml EdT for under 30 dollars. Yes, the current formulations a good smelling but cannot compare to the vintage. The modern formulations are like the top and middle notes of the original, but are lacking the heavenly base... Do yourself the favor😉
