I worked some time ago at The Boathouse. I really liked the island, quiet, ocean, welcoming people and very clean. In the future, I will visit the island again.

Hi Ross, Another great video. Everytime I see the Lloyds Bank in St Peter Port it always takes me back to the well known black and White photo of the German Band marching up to the right of the bank in 1940.

we were in the port a couple of weeks ago with Sky Princess. It was a Sunday and there was a market along the front. Loads of cruise passengers were there, many buying things - I chose local beer for consumption. We have been to Guersey before and loved it.

been into Guernsey on a cruise ship a couple of times, deliberately to visit family. A fair number of "cruisers" take the local buses to go around the island.

The tourist information place does some handouts/maps for various walks around the cliffs and other coastal walks.

Im Guernsey born but dont live in the island anymore. Even so, I have never been a supporter of cruise ships. The only thing one can hope, to my mind, is that passengers will like St. Peter Port and come back some time for a longer stay than just a few hours where they just spend a few pound at the most on a coffee and a soft drink.

Quite a few passengers come ashore, though. Over the full season, it must mount up. Two cruise ships at a time sometimes.

Hi Russ you should have been at 9am it was bussing With at least 3 guides taking round the visitors at least 30 in each + other people , it was like old times

In the old times - if youre talking about the 1960s and 70s - visitors stayed a week or a fourtnite and spent their money every day. Not just on a coffee or a soft drink. Once.

If you're born and bred North Yorkshire (ie British Citizen) and moving to the Channel Islands to live/retire... what residency status do you get? Entitled or something else??

I recall that if it's for single ocupancy (less than 3 people), then you can live in Guernsey, but it must be an open market property. House prices for local market Are VERY high, and open market prices even higher. If it's multi-ocupancy, then you can only stay for 5 years. If you work here and can obtain a work permit and a family member permit for members of your family, you can work here and live in a local market property. I recall the permits are for 5 years. After 7 years, you get full citizenship. Apologies if I got anything wrong. All information is available online.
