I love the way you’re coming at Spearhead. I really hope GW gets behind this system with a dedicated SH product that’s actually new player friendly, because Skaventide is priced out of that “low shelf “ entry point. You’re not going to drop $260+ US on a starter product to try a game out.

The launch bundle is never really indicative of what they want their starter set to be. I just want them to be louder about beginner products in general.

With the GHB and the Spearhead book included, Skaventide feels more like a product aimed at re-energizeing existing players and quickly bridge from AOS 3.0 => 4.0 with updated mini sculpts than a 'starter box', of which GW historically follows on with 3 levels with varying minis and terrain features MUCH closer to sensible 'Starter' money like they did with Stormstrike and Warrior sets. Once the release is in full swing, if Spearhead proves popular, I envision the GW shops having a monthly Spearhead rally to keep new players active while more seasoned players move into larger full AOS games.

Yeah 260$ is big ask if you are completely new and unsure if the game is for you.

This format really is such a great bridge between board and wargame. I love big complex wargames, but I don't have the time these days to really spend hours off the table 'playing' list building.

They fixed double turn, good job GW. This change alone make 4th edition better then 3rd.

Great game fellas, really enjoying the Spearhead content. I've noticed no-one has put up a Kharadron Spearhead yet... wanna be first? One note for the Chaos player, sorry, I don't remember your name, if you'd brought the Knights on (@57:57) behind your General, more than 6" from the Eels, they could've countercharged said Eels and the game may have gone quite differently. Full disclosure, I was yelling "put them there, put them there" and stabbing the screen with my finger in quite an undignified manner.

I’m getting more and more sad that the cards and mechanics from spearhead aren’t in the new AoS! I’ve played it since the end of AoS 1, and I’ve always felt it was a bit too clunky with all the rules and abilities and 5 long turns without any true dynamic shifts. This format just makes me wonder if we could simply add a few more game mats and try it with 2000p in regular AoS? 😊

Ash, you need to stop shooting sardines and start shooting piranhas, as they work much better. Concerning Spearhead, I love the small footprint, but still feels like you are commanding a small elite reconnaissance force. I will watch any Spearhead content you put out.

Spearhead looks very appealing the more I watch your videos. I wonder, do you have to use the same terrain pieces all the time or is there room in the rules for more customized ones ? I thought about using my Warcry trees for the Ghyran mat.

You can definitely agree to use four other pieces as long as both sides get roughly two of the same size and shape!
