So Bangladeshi people spoke with British accent but nowadays they speak both. It's neither American nor British. It is called mixed accent. In Bangladesh, written English is dominated by British English but accent is controlled by American English superseding British English

Malaysian English and Singaporean English are almost the same. We used to be one country, and both countries have the same ethnic groups (mainly Malay, Chinese, and Indian). However, there is no single specific accent for the whole country because it depends on the person's social background. Depending on whom we are speaking to, we will adjust our speech to make it easier for the other party to understand. As Amanda explained, she is Malaysian Chinese but grew up speaking English in her household. So, it's not weird that her accent is not influenced by Chinese. Since American movies and shows are more common here, we actually speak in a more American way than British, even though we learn UK English at school.

The Indian has a very different accent, it's like Nigerians you recognize the accent from afar, but the South African is also obvious that she is African from her voice and the way she speaks, I recognize the way an African speaks from afar, it's generally different. Even some Africans born in the diaspora have a particular voice (I believe it is linked to the way we make various sounds)

14:48 Correction: English is not the "second" official language in Bangladesh. Constitution of Bangladesh doesn't mention any kind of official languages, Bangla is given the "national language" status. But English is still very dominant, higher education & legal judgements are given in English. Traditionally British English & orthography is used, but Gen Z feels more comfortable using American English (including me). Love from BD❤️🇧🇩

It is important to note that the Indian English accent can not be easily stereotyped or generalised . India is linguistically rich and diverse country ,with multiple regions contributing to the overall tapestry of Indian English.India s linguistic diversity is reflected in the various English accents found across its regions .Each area has its own distinct characteristics influenced by the local languages spoken . The English spoken in southern India often carries influences from Dravidian languages such as Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam . The accent might include rolling "r" sounds and specific innotation patterns. Northeastern India ,with its with its array of languages such as Assamese,Manipuri and various tribal languages ,English here often features softer tones and sometimes a more rhythmic intonation ,influenced by Tibeto Burman linguistic traits. Northern India, with languages like Hindi , punjabi and Urdu ,tends to have English accents influenced by these languages . Common features include clear enunciation of vowels and certain retroflex sounds. In Eastern Indian states like Bihar, West bengal and Odisha ,English accents may be influenced by languages like Bhojpuri ,Bengali and odia . This often results in softer consonant sounds and unique stress patterns. In Western Indian states like Maharastra and Gujarat where Marathi and Gujarati is prevalent ,English accents might include flatter intonation and distinctive pronounciation patterns . These variations make it challenging to stereotype a single " Indian English accent ", as each region contributes its unique linguistic flavor to the way English is spoken.

Agreed. I'm South African and because my mother tongue is English, I sound like I'm from the UK. However, if you speak to someone who speaks Afrikaans as their first language, they tend to have a bit of a Dutch accent. Of course it also depends where in South Africa you live; there's variations in accents between Johannesburg and Cape Town for example.

when are we going to face up to the reality that english comes in many dialects? indians don't follow the same grammar rules, south africans have heavier accents than a sober scott or lepricon, I might understand 1/10 words spoken by a kiwi, filipinos have the heavily accented english they speak among filipinos and then the equally heavy ones they speak to various anglo groups, aussies have their own dictionary of idioms, and dangit if the heaviest english dialect in the world isn't right there in north carolina

12:56 This girl is getting some things wrong. Firstly, Chinese is too broad of a term to use, but you do you. Secondly, indian is not a language. I love how no one batted an eye. I don't understand how many people still consider Indian a language, like what...??? - I'll edit this and say: If you wanna reply to my comment, stay on topic and don't talk about unrelated things. Thanks

My point still stands because you are talking about the Malaysian girl who has better idea about how Malaysian accents and you don’t even speak for Malaysia so you should be the one complain somewhere else instead

@@tevikumares5022 can you read my bloody comment? Please improve your reading comprehension. If you want to complain about my reply to the other comment, then go do it there you obsessed freak. Do you have nothing else to do with your life other than go into every comment and defend that girl as if your life depends on it? As for the accents, I clearly gave my example as to defend her in one way and then argued that it couldn't be used as an excuse unfortunately since she spoke with HER malay english accent (keyword: HER) at the end of the video. So why would she use her LA accent during the guessing game? Because she wanted to trick the player which is not the point of the game. If everyone began doing what she did, then good luck figuring out their nationalities. She clearly has her own accent in malay english but she didn't use it for that specific purpose. I don't need to know Malaysia to speak up about that. And she didn't talk about Malaysian accents at all, she only mentioned how Malaysia is a multicultural country. And omg, that's crazy. It's like no other country has different accents depending on the area, like woooow that was sooooo hard to guess!!! Bravo mate, maybe you should be awarded or smth, no?

@@tevikumares5022 lastly, I can talk about whatever I want (with my own limits ofc) in the comment section. I pointed our her flawed comments, which is literally her saying that "indian" is a language which shows she lacks basic knowledge about languages, it should be well known everywhere that Indian is not a language. She doesn't even know much about the chinese language lmao. Oh and I never intended to speak for malaysia, nothing suggests I did. Your reading comprehension is that of a 5 y/o and you should maybe improve that 💕. For the rest, go figure
