The turret floor is thick and the turret race teeth are chunky and so that indicates that they were expecting a lot of downward pressure and so I think this is the testbed for the Mk 4 Centurion, which was never put in to service, the 95mm CS (Close Support) Howitzer.

1: You’re putting a 5th wheel on it and you’re going to drag a low loader with Crouch’s Scania on it just to confuse the DVSA and plod. 2: You’re putting an extending ladder on it with air adjustable elevation because you’ve got a barn roof to fix. 3: You’re putting a jib with a couple of slings on (again air adjustable) just to support the bones now you’ve obviously killed Jack off as he didn’t appear again after hooking them up at the beginning. 4: Inspired by the pride broom handle camera mount featured previously you’re building the worlds most capable all terrain self propelled camera tripod.

by looks of it - it were a big bang stick - oh there's an idea Jo, build an extra large pea shooter, with flames and stuff i been watching the lads at the Australian Tank Museum, they do a great job restoring etc, rebuilding bent up sides of tanks, made in steel of all silly thicknesses and i seen them welding the panels together, using both tick and mig, stainless steel wire, very cool, can't be cheap, just wondering if that's how you Centurion was built, no rusty dust on the welding? oh i can get all anoraky (not Iraqi) i just been watching vids of US naval guns, as you do, the barrels were very cleverly made in several parts so they could be re-sleeved later on when worn out, the were nicely balanced so they didn't require a huge ram to adjust the height at the rear, the bearing was a clever piece of kit in its self, a frictionless trunnion bearing each side, almost a floating bearing with a narrow space all round, 5" naval guns were supported from a centre point, on the trunnion bearing, its proper nice engineering if your into that sort of thing, you can find vids on the USS Texas kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6Xch4GfZc-An6c will be an interesting project to sink your little teeth into, certainly keep you off the streets which is probably very wise

@@Shoorit it's a unusual setup the air jack and screw jack both connect to the back of the gun, but the big thing is why a rotating mount to test the gun on it instead of welding the mount to the hull since after the test they didn't convert it back to a Mk3 or later then it didn't matter about permanent modifications to the hull. Not much point in testing if a 140/120 would work if there's no turret to test and the hull is already tested with 183mm why not just have the mount on the concrete pad to begin with
