When he said CR 20 I was instantly set on Pit Fiend, Balor is close but it is a demon more likely to be found in the abyss.

Balrog in D&D is called a Balor, which is kinda the Demon version of a Pit Fiend. Pretty close. Not the same tho.

Go to a local gaming store and ask if there are groups. Also, on Reddit, there are sub-Reddits with DND groups in specific area. Search Google for "D&D group reddit" and you should find something. Also, post on Nextdoor or your community's Facebook group, if there is one, and ask. Good luck!

Pit Fiends don't have whips, that whip that can pull you close is of the Balor. Don't know if that was intentional bait or not tho

@@DungeonNoob Probably because a LOT of people accidently conflate the two as in the realms of what and why they fill quite similar roles. I have seen DMs young and old do it regardless of experience.

It's not that surprising; they're both just Dollar Store Balrogs, and the Balrog has a sword and a whip.
