Not only 20, 10 of them kind of really well was what he said. I speak ONE other language kind of well (this one, I am German myself, so English is my second) and two with a little more prospect of being able to buy something to eat in or oder a coffee without butter (which is double useless - I do not drink coffee). I try learning another, but Russian without a teacher and without much practice is really hard to learn by myself.

As a bilingual, that is 100% on point. You get to understand a lot of linguistic/cultural in-jokes once you get the hang of a language. Proverbs and sayings are commonly used in Asian dramas to symbolise and foreshadow things. Translating them doesn't gives off the same feeling even if it means close to the same thing.

I think people feel powerless to change the Chinese government because we aren't Chinese citizens, and even if we were the Chinese government doesn't handle activism well. Plus, I know the US isn't worse, but we have our own crap going on with the pandemic, the election shenanigans, and the civil unrest/police kidnappings and brutality that has left us too emotionally drained to talk about other things. Now there's supposedly parents who are training their kids to be soldiers in a race war there. :/

I agree, we're not Chinese citizens, and there's no way we can "force" change on the Chinese government anyway whatsoever (especially after the trade war and the Corona virus crisis)... @youreawesome5283

@Wandering Philosopher I guess we could stop bringing the topic in a manner that makes Chinese decision makers all protective and defensive... Because when they are that way, we can be most certain that all change is not real and that all action is done just to silence the criticism (and they might as well ignore it, or forcefully silence the opposition)... I really don't know how we can do that, but I just know that there should be a better way to solve this situation I hope people in the Tibet and Uyghur region, all people in all China and outside of it can enjoy a good happy care free life, with no oppression and no hardship imposed on them...

Furthermore they are objected to different forms of psychological and physical abuse like sleep deprivation and water boarding. The innocence of countless former and current inmates has even been admitted by the government but no US president was able and/or willing to close Guantanamo and other blacksites. The bare minimum of ending torture within these illegal institutions seems to be out of the question as well.
