I think he only named Arven and Penny as examples of significant trainers as example because they were more immediately on the mind at the time because of the recentness of Scarlet and Violet. The question wouldn't help him if he meant only gen 9 and there was any chance of John interpreting the question the way the majority of people have (where any and all gym leaders and significant trainers are on the table).

Note on crit captures, they work a bit different this gen. A successful catch roll will always display as a crit capture on a pokemon you have already caught. If you dont roll a successful catch, you will get shaking.

When you caught Luvdisc, I'm not sure if Mikey meant if Luvdisc was used by any major boss throughout the series. My examples would've been Juan, Wallace, Miror B., Greevil, Evice, Nascour, Nemona, Geeta, Sada/ Turo, Kofu, Volo, Komado, etc. So, if Mikey asked "Is it used by Juan or Lovrina", you'd be lying if you said no. Juan and Lovrina send out Luvdisc in their initial battles. I can't think of any other boss fight in the series that includes Luvdisc. Then again, both of their Luvdiscs are forgettable and never seen again. If you and Michael do this again, give examples from every game. Captured Pokémon: Eevee Q1: Is it used by at least one boss fight AT ALL? Examples: Blue, Falkner, Maxie, Miror B., Gorigan, Cynthia, N, Colress, Korrina, Nanu, Lysandre, Piers, Mustard, Peony, Volo or Iono If Yes, Q2: Is Dual Type? Gyarados, Camerupt, Girafarig, Dragonite, Spiritomb... If No, Q3: Has this Pokémon received a Regional Forme, New Evolution, Mega Evolution, Special Z Crystal or Gigantimax Forme? If Yes, Q4: Can it be found in Scarlet and Violet? If Yes, Q5: Can you obtain one with a hidden ability in any game, without transferring to use an ability patch; such as Aminita's Gift? Your guess: Is it Eevee? Those are extremely specific questions, I know, but, by using your extensive knowledge of the series, you can quickly narrow down a Pokémon by thinking of even the most obscure and rare bosses or minor characters. Now, I don't know if Mikey meant bosses across the series or just Scarlet and Violet, but, you could of said yes, because there are prominent trainers that used a Luvdisc.

The fairy type would have been considered a special typing if introduced before the physical special split because when it was introduced initially it had primarily special attack moves and it would have evened out the number of types that were physical and special to nine apiece. Fun fact, all of Eevee’s evolutions are special typings (if you include fairy in that list) and if they ever released another evolution it would probably be dragon type.
