Mike Fuckin Rowe... This man is one of my heros. I almost asked him to join me on my job (im an arborist) but they did that the same week the idea came to me... too bad that episode actually sucked nuts and didnt show a fraction of the crap we do. I had a dead palm lined up for him and some mangrove planting. Both very dirty as palms gather rotten water when they die standing and that tree had about 40us gallons in it. Oh well.

In the late 1900s to almost the mid-twentieth century making lady parts happy was an accepted treatment for what was called hysteria. It was thought to be caused by a problem with the uterus. The offending organ would be stimulated and hopefully the patient would be relieved if not cured. Ouch.
