I wrote this years ago for an artist I was working with, hoping it would make the album. Sadly, it did not, but it earned me my sixth Grammy nomination and put my own "Breaking Silence" on the comeback trail.

Can't find anywhere else to post this, but I'd like to thank you for the pleasure & enjoyment your music has given me over the years. Too bad for all the ones who weren‘t there at the time … I loved those times ! That is not to say I don‘t enjoy the NOW, but it was a special time '65-'80 … ALL the new great tunes - like all yours, Ianis - on Radio Luxemburg , Veronica ( bradcasting from a 🚢 on 🌊) , AFN and others we searched on the „Long Wave Band“ on Radio … the Soundtrack full of by-noise but the tunes - the reason for which we ran to the record shop to buy what we just heard ( if se could afford it 😄 ) …

Ah, you bring back some great memories! In The Hague, in my attic room as a teenager, listening to my transistor with quite a few pirate stations. Radio Northsea as well. That's when I must have heard Janis Ian for the first time. And yes, the noise on the long or short wave! Now looking back I'm feeling so great about those times. Hippie times! Fantastic liberation from the dreary 1950s and post war depression and trauma. The music was so mind blowing sometimes. I still miss running to the record shop now in my late 60s. The record covers produced then deserve a museum! Thanks for taking me down memory lane Roland!
