Loved you since I can’t remember when! My sister LOVED “Society’s Child,” and I fell in love with Janis when I heard the songs on her album, “Stars,” and bought it! Then came “Between the Lines,” and her songs resonate with me now, just as they did then! “In the Winter” applies to my life in this very day! This has been a really cold, rainy winter here in SoCal, and I DO NEED to have “extra blankets for cold, due to the fact that I can’t afford to fix the 1920’s gas furnace-on-the-floor… The days are okay I watch the TV in the afternoons If I get lonely, The sound of other voices, Other rooms are near to me I'm not afraid The operator, She tells the time, It's good for a laugh There's always radio, And for a dime I can Talk to God - Dial-a-Prayer Are you there? Do you care? Are you there? And in the winter, Extra blankets for the cold Fix the heater, getting old I am wiser now, you know And still as big a fool concerning you I met your friend She's very nice, what can I say? It was an accident I never dreamed we'd meet again this way You're looking well I'm not afraid You have a lovely home Just like a picture. No, I live alone I found it easier You must remember how I never liked the party life Up all night Lovely wife You have a lovely wife And in the winter Extra blankets for the cold Fix the heater, getting old You are with her now, I know I'll live alone forever Not together now

Beauteous to see my Musical Shero ~ the original Rude Girl 😎 ~ receiving this long earned Honor 🏆 your Songs guided me thru some of the darkest days of teenage years & continues to inspire me as my journey unfolds. As a singer songwriter who's Voice was compromised by Health in 2022 your testimony is encouraging. May the Many Blessings you've shared with your Gift return unto you tenfold 🎶🎸🎹💜🌎

Your singing has been life changing for many, I’ve enjoyed hearing you sing for so many years, but now I’m discovering you again and finding that your speaking is as wonderful as your singing. Thanks for all of your talent and for sharing it with the world. You are incredible.

Thank you Janis; and thanks or your latest, encouraging advice. I'd love to say, "We love you,", but who are we? I have no idea, so I must resort to me. I love you and always have. My stroke last week has changed how I must play music in the future - just wanted to share that with you. And one more thing: One should never fault one's own apple-tree for "only" providing a stock of fruit and not two or for skipping one node where an apple might have grown, this year. Because of this "skipping" the next apple on that branch is sweeter and more apple-y.

I get where she is coming from....my life has actually done the reverse. When I was young I had a burning desire to become an artist (a painter). I could not afford art school or an art tutor. So I taught myself. It took a long time and the journey was filled with hits and misses. However I learned by recognizing my mistakes and working out how to correct them. However, my art eventually drifted off to being an just intermittent hobby as I grew older. I wasn't until I retired from the rat race in the late 1990's, that my attention was refocused on creating art again. I was 65 and trying to start an art career...it just didn't make sense to me, but I gave in to my, reborn, desires of my youth. I started to enter my art in art competitions in 2004 and in 2006 I won my first art prize. Since then... up to today, I have won over 40 art awards and wrote a book about my art journey (still in it's final re-edit stage). Like Janis, I began to look back with a tad of remorse, on how different my life could have been, if I had pursued my art career many years ago. I guess there is a great truth in the saying, "There is a time and place for everything". I now except that my time and place is right now, today. I now paint every day and constantly set goals for the future. The past is past and just the lessons learned from then, remains. Thank you for your wonderful and thought provoking music, Janis. It is a sure bet that your music legacy will live on and inspire others, long after you are no longer with us. If the same thing happens with my art legacy, then my spirit will be content.

Dear Janis, what I have to say to you will probably not come as any surprise, or be anything that you haven't heard before, yet it's something I've been wanting to tell you since I was 16 years old in 1976. It's not always a teen girl who suffers the cruelties of her peers. I was extremely awkward and socially inept in every way, at the age of 17, starting when I was a child really. I WAS, in the most absolute way, painfully introverted. Mt family had very little, and I felt like an alien from another planet because I couldn't afford a pair of blue jeans to wear to school, like everyone else was wearing. The pangs of puberty and adolescence, and not being able to even talk to a girl without my throat closing up just made me angry, along with everything else. Your song; At Seventeen, when I first heard it, opened my flood gates of all the sadness and anger that I had built up. Your song and others of the era from the 70's probably saved my life....... If ever I could meet you, it would make my life's Hi-Lite real...... Thank you so much Janis, from the depths of my heart. I'm glad to have survived, but even more happy to see that you survived to become so great and known and loved for what came from your suffering. God Bless, and keep you. Greg
