According to Calli, they recorded Start Again when ERB hadn't debuted yet, so she was only listed as "new talent". At the second verse there is a section where ERB and Rissa harmonize right before a part Calli was assigned. When Calli heard the two pop off she ended up recording her part over 40 times to get a take she could be satisfied putting beside those two powerhouses.

Calli had ERB on her music show HoloMelo Radio 2 weeks ago, which is definitely worth a watch if you want to know more about her musical background. Calli is planning on covering Libera me from Hell from Gurren Lagann with her as well, and anyone who knows the song knows you need some SERIOUS vocal chops to cover the opera parts of that song. The only other person she's proposed this to is Ironmouse, who has a background in opera.

I would LOVE to see an ERBxIronmouse cover of ANYTHING, but Liberate Me From Hell would be AMAZING! (BTW, just a technical term: Ironmouse has a background in classical voice training (which includes opera), but saying she has a "background in opera" means she actually performed in fully staged operas, which is not the case as far as I'm aware. (Feel free to let me know if I'm wrong about that.)

Some little fun facts about Raora: She only learned English like 3 years ago, since her native language is Italian, and she’s only been learning Japanese for probably nearing a year at this point. For her recent 2 covers she did all the illustrations for the MVs (I don’t know if she did for the debut one). When her eyes go blue that’s when she is using her “God Eyes” and that’s where her powers are from.

Fun Fact about the last song - there's a part where ERB and Nerissa are harmonizing, followed by a Solo bit by Calli - Calli was so determined to live up to their harmony and not bring the song down (as she feels she is in no way at the same level as ERB and Nerissa) that she did something like 45 takes of that line. What she may lack in natural singing talent she more than makes up for in sheer determination.

Above Below's lyrics were done by monii, not r2pc, they did the logo. Monii has worked with Kiara before on several songs, even releasing her own version of them and having been a guest on Kiara's stream. She speaks English, and likely wrote the lyrics in English, although I wouldn't be surprised if management had given her some Japanese lyrics as a starting point or requested some changes here and there that resulted in a few odd lines. She's also worried with the kpop group LOONA, &Team (a japanese boy band based in both japan and korea) and Raon, a korean singer who started off doing covers on youtube and has since debuted in japan and korea under UMG.

As a Eurobeat-inspired song, Above Below is a cut above from a lot of the HoloEN group songs for me. Maybe it's not just your cup of tea. The lyrics are fine too, and if you paid attention more, they're essentially threatening Advent. Rebellion talks about escaping and being freed into the open blue sky, and then Above Below talks about "what goes above, goes below". Advent actually released a song as an aswer to this, which is Siren (which I didnt really like at all). You should definitely watch some of Liz's karaoke songs. I recommend the Skyfall one. (seriously, her karaoke streams are more or less concerts to me 😅)

I happen to know ERB's entire portfolio. However, rules of engagement state that unless the past life is acknowledged by the talent, we don't speak of it openly. So I'll go with generalizations. She has done voice acting in anime professionally. She also does voices in youtube animation projects, and has participated in major fandom productions over the years. She is potentially one of the biggest talents Hololive could have picked up. For more specifics, Ina was her first Oshi, but she has stated that Ollie is her Kami-Oshi.

Cecilia is the one I watch the most. And she is really talented. She speaks German, English, French and a tiny bit of Norwegian and is learning Japanese. She plays Violin, Piano (and I think in her debut mentioned also Viola). She can also produce music (she did a few streams producing jingles for herself and her genmates). And she can rig (for example she rigged the Cecilia plushie model she used in her birthday stream) and she can program (she programmed the game she plays with her viewers during her debut). Btw she said she is not really a good singer (I quite like her voice) Just don’t let her drive a car… or any vehicle for that matter But I want to say… all the Justice girls are crazy talented and I really like alle of them.

I really like this concept you're doing. Schyph, the more knowledgeable one, shows ravenclaw about hololive and their music and both can review, analyse and rate the music. It reminds me a little bit of Nagzz' Vtuber discovering series, which has a similar concept, but with vtuber clips. Please more in the future! Maybe you could go through many hololive musicians, like Sora, Matsuri, AZKi, or even some underrated singers, like Flare, Mio and Watame. Her interactions with smaller channels is actually more of a networking strategy than "simping", IMHO. (This is NOT to say she doesn't respect the HELL out of them). This is based somewhat on "forbidden knowledge", but I followed her PL for years and she has always said that one of the most important things she learned as an online content creator is to raise up those inspired by your work and those you admire. She has always said her success online is because others did the same for her, so she is always looking to "pay it forward". This is VERY much what Ollie always did as well, btw, so she's STILL the Ollie of EN, but that's separate from "simping" which is what she does for the other girls in Hololive.

Above below is one of my favorite hololive songs. The beat is so hype and it gets me a good pump in the gym. I think the lyrics are sick. I’m not the type of person that listens to the song for the lyrics. So I guess that’s why I love this song. Someone once stated it best, lyrics in music is just more sounds that complement the song. Word in music sounds like beeps and bops so it’s not my main focus.

The first western song that she covered was Blackbird by the Beatles, and I would argue its her best official cover due to how it showcases her precision, control and artistic direction for how she uses her voice like an instrument. A lot of people talk about Liz's range and power, but for me, truthly, what makes her stand apart are those three qualities. We have powerful singers in Moona and Kanata, singers with long ranges such as Risu and Polka, and beautiful and crystalline vocals in many of the multiple Divas. But for me personally, I don't think we've seen a singer as well knowledgeable of their own voice quite as well as Liz (except Towa probably?) And its not much of a pure talent thing from what I can gather, but its mainly through years and decades of training, natural vocal quality probably helped, but overall, you don't get a singer like this based on natural born singing. I haven't looked at her PL but from convos alone, she talks about being trained since she was a young girl and being surrounded by music and art all her life. She’s learned instruments and have taken vocal lessons for specific genres of music such as opera, jazz, rock, metal, etc.

1:18:18 Speaking of concerts and acapella. During hololive 4th Fes, Suisei took the holo*27 stage with an acapella song called Planetarium. Just imagine all the girls going full steam with pop/rock songs and hype dance choreography, then Suisei steps in with nothing but her mic and a soft lullaby. So this is just my own guess but I think a lot of people are wrong on cecillia's violin tracking. It is, I think, tracked on to the y position(up-down) of the model to move the hand. Evidently, if you try to match the timing of her bobbing up and down, the stick(?) will move accordingly or in fancier words, linearly. Also if they really needed to track the hand movement, they would need a high framerate camera to reduce motion blur, hence easier tracking. Or if you are good enough, code a frequency matching system to then track onto whichever position the violin is supposed to be.

I mean, it's pretty standard for a trained Soprano voice (although it DOES take a lot of work, so I'm not knocking it). Her most impressive vocal quality is her dynamic control at all ends of the spectrum. Basic breakdown: there are many techniques to help stretch your vocal range on higher or lower notes, but some singers tend to stick to the easy ones unless they've practiced that particular phrase relentlessly. The mark of someone who has put in SO much singing work is someone who can be extremely dynamic on the higher or lower notes of their range. Liz constantly shows a high end voice control which shows she has an almost flawless understanding of vocal mechanics that I don't think we have EVER seen before in Hololive! She'll switch from straight voice to vibrato in the blink of an eye, use power mixing in a way that shows classical singing proficiency, and perform runs that are like vocal acrobatics! While there are plenty of Sopranos with a MUCH more impressive range, there are few as controlled as she is at wielding their voices like a fine-tuned weapon. (Thank you for coming to my TED talk.)

Your thoughts and the way you explain things is cool and fun to listen to! Thank you for taking time sharing this video. The gremlin creature Gigi's song seriously did break people in the first few seconds XD, but out of all the cover songs of this group, she felt the most unique. ERB, or Liz, is a powerhouse. Her history online is amazing with the songs and voices she did literally over a decade ago still being talked about today. Hololive bringing in Liz is a genius move. Raora has been called the Towa singer of English, and that fits but also doesn't. Raora is a fun person to listen to. Her laughs are contagious XD CC is a mixed bag, fun to root for. Not many Hololive members are known for sticking to an instrument as much as CC. She has a sense of humor that is fun to listen to.

ERB is an interesting addition to the team, because we've seen a lot of great singers in hololive -- but no one with the chops for stage performance/live jam style singing with techniques with such ad libs and scat, improvisations. So I don't know any info about her PL but it does seem like a very likely guess that she had at least some stretch of career as stage singer. Because, like mentioned in the vid, you can't sing like that without actually having sung in front of a live audience, and have done it often enough to feel confident to add in your own improvs and ad libs to go with the flow instead of "stick to the notes." Something tells me she's going to be the gem of every Holofes or other Live3D concerts that involve Justice.

As far as I know, Hololive gives the model in orders after the talents are set, and the talents have a certain amount of influence on the model. That's why it takes about half a year from the time of recruitment to the first appearance of the talent. the only exceptions are Miko and Suisei who start as independent vtubers and AZKi when she was still in InoNaka Music

With the song Gigi is doing, I've seen some analysis/breakdowns of it that basically call it "freedorm Jazz disguised as EDM". The melody is very structured and stays within the boundaries of a basic pentatonic scale, but the chord structure is all classic freeform Jazz structures - relying on weird transition chords, to get you to restructured 7ths and 9ths bringing you to your "home" key. It's the production on the more electronic elements - what producers often call "ear candy" - that give it it's more "microtonal" feel.

The song Otanablue that ERB sang is from a Japanese band called ATARASHII GAKKO! I highly recommend checking out some of their stuff, the songs are all great and they plan their own choreo that is extremely unique. They preformed a version of it on The First Take channel that you saw Suisei do Stellar Stellar on before. Also either the video version or the Jimmy Kimmel performance of Tokyo Rising (both have English CC if you won't the lyrics). I see most of your channel is dedicated to vtuber songs and anime, so it might not fit the theme of your channel but the next time you're looking for something different to listen to.

Wish you did Raora's 2nd cover (Echo) too, 'cause her voice gets even more interesting there. Personally think she sounds a lot like Towa. Generally would be nice if you'd "confront" the songs with some reactions to stream clips. I'm pretty sure you'd lose it at the gap between the performances and their actual characters. Especially Raora - you need to hear her yelling at her chat in Italian :D Cece and Gigi in tandem are also a gem, the way they enable each other is hilarious.

I think the as above so below is used semi-ironically in the song, as a reference to their lore as law enforcement and opponents of gen 3. As above so below refers to the laws of God in Judaism and Christianity, more specifically in the sense that anything God says must/will happen. So I think considering how Advent (the previous gen, criminals) all have demonic themes (Nerissa is a demon, Shiori knows forbidden lore, Fuwamoco are hellhounds, Bijou is a corrupting magical stone), Justice being their opposing force has that religious reference in the song to tie it to the story. So the cops are deified and the criminals are demons. Which kinda makes sense since a lot of religious people believe laws came from God or gods. And unfinished sentences are completely normal in all forms of poetry, not just songs... and definitely not just eurodance songs or songs translated from Japanese. There are millions of songs made by native English speakers that have unfinished sentences and separate words. So... yeah that definitely doesn't have anything to do with the song being translated.
