A tip for flags related to Hungary: mind the tilted cross above the crown. I can't recall the reason for it but I think it was because the real crown fell and the cross tilted, and so they put that on the flag as well lmao. That symbol dates back to, at the very least, the Hungarian territories of Austria-Hungary but it may be much older.

Maltese guy here, that cross in the flag that you thought was related to Malta is not in fact the 8 pointed star used by the Knights of St. John or the modern version the nights hospitalier . A quick google will show you the 8 pointed star and the white and red colors used by the order. If you are up for a history lesson, the order of St. John ruled Malta from around 1530 till 1798, using Malta as a headquarters for their order. In all fairness they transformed Malta form a ragtag island full of basically hunter gatherers into a decent little island with fortifications and a relatively modern societal structure. Maltese language is could also be interesting as it is a mix of Arabic and Italian languages. Ġurnata it-tajba from Malta :)

I am Colombian and the Bogotá flag was unexpected for me, the bird is not an eagle, is a Condor, and of you see the flag has the red and yellow colors but the shield is blue, referring to the Colombia's flag 🇨🇴

It's actually an eagle, it's the Eagle of the Holy Roman Empire. When Bogotá was founded, the King of Spain, Charles V, was also Holy Roman Emperor, so he allowed the newly founded city to use the Imperial Eagle on its coat of arms. The condor is on the coat of arms of Colombia, not on the one from Bogotá

[spoiler] The 8th flag at 08:58 was quite easy for me, many Brazilian municipalities have this emblem of a central shied, top crown and motifs on the sides representing the city. Actually this flag is quite close to my own city, Ribeirão Preto :D

Hey the first flag was mine ! The flag is called the "Head of Moorish" and the history behind would be that when moorish people (that had invaded Corsica) were defeated by Corsican people, they beheaded one of the leaders and put his head on a spear to show their strength and then they decided to adapt it as flag to say they would resist against any enemies and that they would not be easily defeated

13:04 In the Bogota flag, the coat of arms is located in its center and it was imposed as the Coat of Arms of the New Kingdom of Granada by Charles I King of Spain on 1548. It has kind of a German looking eagle because Charles I was also Holly Roman emperor (ruled as Charles V) in the same period of time.

That star at the ninth flag represented the sun and it was used in Southern Spain preroman empire, it might be stolen and used as a simbol for Islamic times and made its way to the Ottoman Empire somehow. During medieval times in Europe, there was this practice called Spolia, which basically means that after a place got conquered the conquerors would mix the culture with their own to show dominance, that's how I think that star could have ended there (Spolia is usually used to talk about material things, like buildings and styles, but you can also use it to talk about simbology and ideology. That's how we do it in Spanish history circles). Loved the whole video, you just earn a new subscriber from Spain. 😁😁

To elaborate further on the 13th Flag as a citizen of one of the countries in there (Thailand), The Milk Tea Alliance is a democratic movement prodominantly in Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Myanmar, and other regions which have the same problems of democracy and which have had protests in the past few years. It was started on Twitter by Thai university students with the purpose of creating a symbol which bonds Thailand, Hong Kong, and Taiwan together in the fight for democracy when protests in Thailand were picking up the storm late last year and gained support from Hong Kong and Taiwan on social media, mostly Twitter
