Tokyo is the biggest city in Japan, and rent prices in Tokyo are known to be quite expensive. However, in this video I asked people what their rent prices are in Tokyo, Japan to see how it compares to other major cities in the world such as Los Angeles (my home town), New York, etc. The answers to me were quite shocking....

The thing I love about Japan is that you can live pretty cheaply out here. In Japan, I've lived in places ranging from a $270 wooden box capsule to a $1,380 apartment with a wraparound balcony overlooking Tokyo Bay. There's a wide selection if you're open-minded.

Interesting to compare to other cities too. Ages ago I lived in a 1K only 2 stops away from Namba station in Osaka and paid half of what the 1K guy at 5:00 does. Now I live in a 2LDK also 2 stops away from Sakae station in Nagoya and pay 1/3 of the guy at 5:55 does.

Did you only got people that rent houses/appartements? Or were there people that owned something? Is it a trend in Japan to rent a place instead of buying or does the government make it difficult to buy a living space in the first place?
