Join us for a collaborative demonstration with Eusheen Goines and Austin Stern! Watch as Goines and Stern merge their unique styles, bringing together the best of glassblowing and flameworking to create a never-before-seen sculpture.
Eusheen Goines
Eusheen Goines is an internationally-recognized flameworker known for his flowing shapes and detailed pattern work. Goines’ career began in 2000 while learning with Mike Luna and Darby Holm, and later, Banjo (Matthew Stroven). In 2006, he discovered the joy of teaching, which led to a career as an educator, sharing his techniques in Japan and the United States. Goines has now demonstrated worldwide, including Australia, Japan, Germany, Costa Rica, and the United States. He is inspired by sacred geometry and has a meticulous attention to detail in his work.

Austin Stern
Austin Stern's glass sculptures are seemingly innocent creatures that examine visceral emotions such as comfort, anxiety, and even fear. Inspired by the highly saturated colors found in the toys and cartoons of his childhood, he reinterprets traditional Venetian glass techniques to explore interpersonal relationships and mental health.

Hello! I just wanted to say i think it’s so awesome that you mentioned that pipes are a growing field in the glass world and that many are complete works of art :) I think it can be difficult for people to accept something used to smoke out of as a piece of art, but anyone that sees this can understand these are true artists in a field they wanted to learn.

Incredible collaboration! My jaw dropped as soon as I saw how big that disc prep was when Eusheen pulled it out to attach the last section of wig wag / switchbacks, onto the disk to complete the disc. Incredible control and manipulation of that glass. Always handled with confidence and never panics. A true pleasure getting to see this work done. Even cooler to see a collaboration between Soda Lime and Borosilicate Artists. Thanks Eusheen, Austin, Eric, all the assistants helping the artists and most of all, CMOG for hosting and making this content a possibility!

For me, I would say it's because the first time I saw what glass could be as far as art, is in the bowls I would smoke out of.
