Guest Bedroom Makeover *French Country Style* Part 1

Hello KZbin Friends! I'm so happy to be back and sharing a new video with you! I will be going room by room and project by project throughout this year to slowly bring this dated 1997 house more in line with my French Country, Traditional and European Inspired Style. I decided to start with one of the guest rooms that is in the front of the house. I hope you enjoy this video and the items I painted for this room. This is part 1 and part 2 will be coming soon! Part 2 will be packed full of painting projects and tons of decorating.

Deborah, wonderful to see you & your paint brush working away. Love the color of the room - sorry, but I also love the texture of the ceilings! I think it complements the room. The flooring is beautiful & that rug so perfect. You wouldn't even have to remove the rug, you can just add an accent rug, as seasons change, over top. The cabinet is large & in charge, I would want it to keep quiet & not take away from the beautiful calm in the room. Whatever you decide, make your eyes happy. Love seeing your "helper" with that sweet face, little paw inspecting that pesky sticker and checking out the new carpet. Adorable! glad to see you back. what i think is funny is that i LOVE your style and diy's but i never trust your process. when you show paint projects midway, i'm not thrilled about it. but then you finish them and, of course, they look awesome. can't wait to see your house become truly "yours".

The room is looking great! I enjoy hearing people's different perspectives on decorating. I personally prefer the drapes above the floor line...just enough so they don't get dusty and are easy to vacuum under quickly. I guess I'm an impatient person on things like that. Loved your idea of the hooks for the curtain rod! Very creative.

Long curtains that puddle are nice looking when you first mount them, but I have two dogs and dog hair makes puddling curtains very ugly within a day or two. That room is going to be very pretty though. I'd like to see part 2.

100%! Cat hair is bad enough, but dog hair is definitely hard to keep up with! Our German Shepherd's hair got everywhere! Love our fur babies, though, don't we? ❤

We had some difficulties with her horses 🐎 and 🦄 🦄 unicorns site but we are back and will work on making better vids we started between the holidays then all vids were removed due to my older daughter had my 8 yr old email 18 yrs old I never checked it not very computer literate yet working on it but it's all straightened out now we will start to make new vids now excited see ya soon just uploaded catching a leprechaun vid In the morning we will see what happens ash sleeping hrs ago I'm finally going to bed now see ya in the am night 🌙 😀

Pleased to see you ! WD40 works pretty well removing that sticky residue off items--worth a try next time. The cabinet is gorgeous and I would paint it a creamy white with gold accents to make it look more "frenchie"! Ha! Anxious to see it all decorated & finished so don't keep me hanging too long!!! Know you will have a beautiful place for guests to sleep in.

There is an attachment I found at Lowes for spray cans.. it really helps when spraying things. It gives a much more even coat and doesn’t hurt your hand.

I think i might wait to pick color for cabinet until you get bedding. My first inclination was a creamy light color with a brown glaze as it looks you’re going light and airy in this room. So far, its gorgeous. You’re the artist so I know you’ll pick the perfect color.❤️

Leave your French cabinet the shade it is or as close to the rod iron bed. This will keep the room balanced as you add other pieces. These two pieces mentioned are your main focus. The room is looking beautiful!

I don't know much about French country but I was looking at your painting up close. On the right there are two rugs hanging on the wall. The rust color has a spot of blue/teal. You could paint the armoire that color. Or up on the balcony on the right there is a pretty blue at the top of the first column. You could use that and distress with dark gray or black. Your hardware could be antique gold or aged brass. Or you can go the whole creamy white or light gray with florals down the sides and on the front. For myself I would do a really pretty darker green and keep the hardware that's on it. Then I would use gold wax to highlight the hardware. I would hand paint the florals that are on there to add color.

Welcome back. Nice bed and light fixture. I chose a similar rug but it didn’t work out for my room. I gave it to my daughter who loves it. The paint color looks perfect and I think if you want to paint the armoire, maybe a soft green would be nice. Looking forward to seeing what you do next.
