I looove your videos! Nobody does this better than Jim Skelton! Everybody in the knife review game owes you money. You created it!

I'm fortunate to own several. They are very well done, and the kicker is they are made by a company who actually gives a damn. Joe and Angey are innovative, responsive, and make a superior product. I currently own 15 Shiro's, and while they are extremely well made, the size, fit, finish, and action (especially the new V3) puts the Holt ahead of Shiro production models. Hype? Real.

How do some makers make their anodizing more durable than others. I noticed that spider Kos anodizing is not very durable at all
@OnlyInaWorldsoCold4 жыл бұрын
How do you reiterate the washers and the bearings and dont mention the actual detent, ya know the part the sets this knife and the skaha apart? Im not sure why no other makers have picked it up.

Man I love the knives that are coming out today. As u say the tolerances on almost everything nowadays even a lot of production knives are awesome. Amazing what they can do with these cnc machines. My only fear is so many new makers are all using machines like this. Really worry as years and years go by we will lose the 100% man hand made knives and after a few more decades it becomes a lost art like so many other things in this world today. Don’t get me wrong I respect anyone who makes a business and can put out a great product but to do it all by hand with perfect precision is a total other level in my eyes. The art of just using your hands and hand tools to make the knives some can do just amaze me and it to me is fascinating. And to make ur own steel as well and do it is even another level. But do love the things people are doing with knives today with cnc machines

Alex Kahn yeah I know, but how? They don’t polish it and then stonewash and I don’t think they stonewash it and then polish. I think it’s left in a stone washer so long it polishes ir

I've always though this a very plain knife that is very well executed. At $700, I really cant see it. That being said, this would be a great design for Holt to farm out to Reate at say $375. Great video.

Didn’t you diss grimsmo for this exact same cnc thing?!??
@258awesomeness5 жыл бұрын
IMO they arent worth the ridiculous asking prices on the secondary. Was a thread on reddit the day after bladeshow where some guy had bought two specters at blade, with the intent of selling the second one at double the table price just to pay for the first one. Are they great at table price? absolutely. But they sure as shit are not great when people are running them for as much as one of marfione's Milan exclusive customs.

In a weird way feel like I was waiting for this video. Want a Specter bad, at the same time I've not seen a config that really hits me enough to pull the trigger. The engineering is there. Sometimes I wonder if the Holts are TOO ahead of things 🤷♂️

@patrickpatterson23604 жыл бұрын
Skelton knows his stds. Classic good looks. They are the best in the business at anodizing. Only thing I can knock them for borrowing some design features from Shirogorov - and others. The detent, and the blade profile is almost a 100% copy of a shiro neon or f95 hati what-have-you
@tknx29485 жыл бұрын
I find these almost boring to look at. I hate the tiered handle. But also a tapered set of sides that follow the blade like the Xerxes.

Blade steel on knives like this doesn't matter one bit. They won't see enough work to full even the softest steel. If they do, even cheap steels work perfectly fine. People place way too much emphasis on blade steels.
