Great discussion with Dennis. Being a Dallas collector, loved seeing those rare Dallas notes from his collection. Just amazing that 1914 error $20 and red seal 1914 $100. My problem I encounter is buying a note that I somewhat want, then a note I would of rather had shows up an hour later. If I just would have waited a few hours. This seems to happen often. Love the show guys. About the stupid errors trying to be sold on Ebay, the one that ticks me off the most are the miss cut $2's. It is easy for someone to buy an uncut sheet and create plenty of these purposely miss cutting them.

Thanks for the great comments - Big "D" and he had some great ones! I think I have the same purchasing issue that you do. (Or is that an opportunity?) And Stu does a great job of going after the scammers - ran into a guy at a small show selling them, twos, as "high denominations". I let him know that I may drive a turnip truck but I did not just fall of it.

Hi Dan, and the crew, Great round table. Dennis was an awesome guest with so much knowledge in collecting currency at such a young age. And what a great time to start in 1969. I was only 11 then. He sure had some beautiful currency notes throughout the years. Just a couple of things from the round table I like to mention. 1st I been subscribing to Coin World Magazine the last few years. They always have a chapter about currency. And I just subscribed to the Bank Note Reporter last year. And that is a must magazine to have when you are checking prices on all currency notes when you are ready to buy. Thanks again all and especially Dennis for all you do for the hobby of collecting currency notes. Wish I started a lot earlier. Hope to see Dennis soon again on the round table. Take care and God Bless!🙏 Bill

Thanks Bill for the update. Have to give Coin World credit for the one chapter (no sarcasm). That's so much more than the ANA does for paper currency collectors. You will see Dennis again.

Speaking of Ontario's question about how paper money manages to survive for over 100 years, I had the thought that in the late 19th century / early 20th - especially in rural parts of our still-developing country - many people who had the opportunity to even see a paper bill might have held onto it as a novelty and placed it in a drawer or in a Bible or storage chest. People still did a lot of bartering and payment in kind rather than payment in cash.
@PolarCurrency7 ай бұрын
Great theory - and have to agree. There certainly has been thousands of notes found in the family Bible or a random book. You keep your cash trade you goods if you could. Thanks for the insight!

That was a fun episode with Dennis. Definitely agree with his perspective on the hunt can be the best part, and sometimes just having a note is more important than condition (if one really just wants to have the note). I also have managed to pull some Minneapolis notes from circulation with suffix letters above B, with I being the highest Minneapolis suffix I have found so far, although the vast majority are A suffix. Knew about how they didn't really use number grades back then, as it was the same with coins except the highest for coins replaced crisp with brilliant.
@PolarCurrency7 ай бұрын
Crisp! This may be me - but his scale is how I like my bacon! And yes to the Mpls. suffix letter - I have an Mpls.1995 H that also as a wet ink transfer on it. I got for the H! But an I - how cool is that! An I-I note! That can not be very common at all. Get the note for what you can afford. Grade be damned.
@collectingonthecheap563537 ай бұрын
I rewatched Stu's video about the $1 Hawaii Overprint, and in his search results, he happened to produce an IJ note. But, definitely, I am all about going with the notes in affordable condition, including one that is on its way to my mailbox soon.
