My grandfather was born and raised on Chesapeake Bay and went out on the water in the mornings looking for soft crabs. Many years later and much farther South in Tennessee they brought some home from a trip back there to visit family. Decades later you are making hungry.

We spent vacations on the lower eastern shore - northampton county. We played in the bay, occahanock, hungars, nassawadox. Sand fleas, no-see-ums, egrets, herons, and osprey. Wouldn't trade it for anything. The blessing of the occasional soft crab is an absolute treat -- a table full of crabs, crab hammers, crackers, mini forks, and picks, homemade potato salad, slaw, and corn, and you're set for hours. Picking the steamers to stuff the flounder that we've caught out along the shipping channel or flats is another level too!! Some fresh shucked oysters for appetizers with an ice cold Yuenglings and you're all set ! Wishing you following seas, full pots, tight lines, and well marked channels (and oyster beds) !!!

Just a caution… if you intend to fry your crab in an oil bath, make sure you either remove the water sacs behind the eyes in the middle of the body, or protect yourself from the hot splatter when you cook it. The sacks will split during cooking.
@OutdoorsInMaryland3 жыл бұрын
Nah basically the same as you, but used J.O. batter seasoning. Let me tell ya my first time using this and it was freaking awesome. Had a little kick as you would expect from JO.
