The pregnant woman next to her is actually her biological sister, she is a photographer/videographer she appears in a few of her music videos and contributes to her projects' visuals sometimes too!

You guys interpretation is actually more right than a lot of Lana's fans would like to admit. And even if her sisters are trying to help her heal, she's still missing a man in her life. She's also got a song that's supposedly about a daughter she lost or longs to have, so you guys really are correct in everything, even if you don't know her super well and are only touching the surface of the whole thing.
@candlejenner55582 жыл бұрын
I dont necessarily think its that she misses a man in her life, I think its more so that she's yearning for that familial domestic life with children that she craves and that's what a man could provide her

@@candlejenner5558 I mean, you're just elaborating more, which is fine, but it's not like saying she needs a man in her life is wrong. The guy reacting even mentioned all of what you said. You could say I was reductive, but that's because I didn't feel the need of repeating what's already been said, I just wanted to say he was right and that she does long for that life with a man and raising a family.

@@dustyblanco1546 No, bc I think that's the theme of her latest albums, domestic life and craving a simple life. She's sung about needing a man before, but this time its different, there's a greater purpose

Although I believe most of your interpretation is right, there are some specific things one may overlook at first. Lana is not from Oklahoma but her ex, Sean Larkin, is. I think those parts in the song about her on the John Deere and the dry flowers very directly reference her past relationship with him. She mentions how Jenny asks her where the flowers are from, but she says she doesn't remember as a way of showing she got over him when she most likely didn't. She mentions the man in question, probably Larkin, promised her a traditional life but now that he's gone, those ideas are pretty much gone too. In my opinion, the central point and most beautiful part of the song is the power of sorority, because even though this man is no longer in her life, her friends and sister are there for her to help her heal her wounds. This, in any case, might not be enough to fill in the gaps she has in terms of relationships as she says "the power of us three [Lana, Jenny and Nikki Lane] can bring absolutely anything except for that one thing, the diamonds, the rust and the rain" meaning their power can attract anything they want, except for that one thing that would tame the roaring fires in California, which can be interpreted as Lana's pain or her yearning for a relationship. This is just my interpretation of the song, she's an amazing lyricist and there are many ways her songs can be understood most of the time.

What I found interesting is that blue is the color of bruises, and green/grey are the colors they turn when they are healing. Just a fun fact that really fits with the song 🤗
@waterfaerie92 жыл бұрын
I interpret it the same way. The man who made her promises and never fulfilled them, left her banisters blue (like a fresh bruise), whereas her sisters and other women in her life came to help her paint her banisters green/grey to help her fix the pain left from the broken promises of the man earlier (like a healing bruise)

Loved your interpretation. How I interpret this song is her lover promised her to be with her and paint her banisters BLUE when it will be MAY. But turns out he didn't come back. So now when it's May, her sisters comes to paint her banisters GREEN and GREY of different color to help her get over him. They are with her during spring may time since It reminds her of her ex lover. So she says "Summer comes, winter goes, Spring I skip. Lord knows." I really love this song. Keep coming more Lana reactions please 🥰

First of all, great reaction (did you really need to pause to talk about the song for a long while rather than just wait for that short song to end, though? :D), and interpretation, as always. But introducing someone to LDR through Blue Banister may not be the best idea (by the way, he'd NEVER heard of her ?! o__o). It's a magnificent song, but it's not as entertaining as her early albums. Plus, those "old" LDR songs had stunning MV (too bad Lana stopped making them... =__=)... the sight of "young" Lana helps converting someone, if you know what I mean. :D

We had never heard the song before. We were reacting to the song and message. That is why we discussed it and did not just listen to it all the way through. We typically stop the video to discuss in our reactions. We are old people.
