Important Message for those booking Bajaj adventure cover insurance. Bajaj will take 10 to 14 days to process your request. If you want within a few days your policy, email there customer care and let them know the urgency of it and they’ll provide you with “Instapack policy number” within a day or two that can be used as your policy number. I got my policy number within a day after mailing and got the insurance papers in 4 days.

Thanks, So, at Dirang Campus, good toilet facility is available ( even some geysers in the bathing area) for both boys and girls. At New Melling, toilets were available at the girl's accomodation and the mess ...but usually boys would go out in the nature ( usually a designated area) as their tents were near the rock craft area, little away from the girls accomodation. At Mago, we were staying at the army barracks, so decent toilet facility for both boys and girls. At Jeethanng and Meerathang, everyone would usually go out in the open ( separate designated areas for boys and girls) . Wherever toilets were available, it was Indian style.

Hello ma'am, I've a question about network. We'll be out of network as we reach Dirang? Also do we need to have some cash with us or we'll find ATM at the market you mentioned ?

You will have network in Dirang. And also, there are ATMs in Dirang market as well. But my suggestion would be to withdraw some cash from Guwahati itself or carry it from your hometown. There won’t be any network after Jung. So, what I would suggest is carry some cash on you. Most places where there’s network, you can pay by gpay or UPI , but after Jung , during the course at New Melling, Mago etc, you will sometimes find these small shops, and they only accept cash. I had around 6-7k cash with me and it was fine .

Hi Gurvinder, thanks 🙏 So, the criteria for the the one mile running test is as follows:- (This was according to the official website during our course, , but it may differ slightly and the timings might change, not very sure) a. Sub 8 mins- Super excellent b. 8:30 - excellent c. 9:00 - good d. 9:30- 10:30 - Satisfactory e. Above 10:30 - fail Hope it helps

Hello, So, the last few batches were issued their ice climbing equipments later, and not at NIMAS Campus. That means you might be lucky and get the ice climbing shoes, ice axe and crampons later .. But in our case, we started carrying the backpack from Jung with all the equipments till 2 days before the course ends...don't think too much about it, just train well and everything will be enjoyable, even the heavy load... you'll feel so strong after the course ..💪

Yes ofcourse, you will be allowed to carry your own rucksack..I had a 70 + 10 ( my personal rucksack) . If you can fit in all the equipments and your personal thing in your 65l bag, yes, you can carry that , or else you obviously carry theirs.

In AMC at nimas, do they take us at expidition and what is the maximum height they take us at?

From what I know , they don’t take you on expedition, but height gain and also you stay at the advanced base camp for a few days. I can’t be sure of the maximum altitude as it depends on the weather conditions. But Meerathang glacier where our ice craft training is conducted, is around 5000m above sea level.

Anywhere from now to two weeks prior to your course should be fine. Apply it on a weekday, between usual working hours, and you will get the confirmation faster. Mine came the same day . Good luck with your course. 🙌

Hi Yes they provide a bigger rucksack. Probably 70 + 10, but you could use yours if you are comfortable with it. I used mine , and it was 70 +10. Though it might be a challenge to fit all the equipments they provide along with your personal items in a 60 L bag. When you’re packing before leaving for New Melling, give it a try. If you are able to manage it , then good, otherwise you still have their bag. Take it when you’re being issued one, and decide while you’re packing. Good luck with your course!

When it comes to food, I ve heard some institutes, provide rice, dhal and chapatti& aaloo very standard in their menu and pretty much everything is based around these. Is it the case in Nimas too?

Honestly , the food we got was pretty basic, yes, Dal , rice , sabji and rotis for lunch and dinner, but there was also chicken for non- veg and paneer for vegetarians. Eggs for breakfast almost everyday. Also, Puri and paratha, and sweet like sewai etc. So, I felt they had more variety at the NIMAS campus at Dirang. But, we were surprised with soups, snacks etc. quite regularly. It was mostly north Indian food though but yes, we had Upma one day for breakfast. Personally, I enjoyed their food and did not loose any weight in 28days. My appetite increased 3 folds, and specially after the hard treks... Good luck with your course..Do let us know how it went.

Hey.. welcome back.. so, our endurance test was conducted in the return route between New Melling and Jung for the first 8km. so, most of it was downhill, but it’s a road.. and they gave us a cutoff time. We are expected not to run, I didn’t run, and also all of us managed to reach within the cutoff time.. hope this answers your questions.. let me know if you have any more

Hi, so on the last day, some of us left in the evening, but some of you could book a taxi together for night return to Guwahati.. Honestly I would suggest you book flight or train after a day’s gap.. eg. If 19th if your last day, book the train for 21st Morning, and leave Dirang early on 20th or 19th night.

@@architaravi8 the same way you reached Dirang. You would have the numbers of the taxi drivers or the bus schedule. You can call and reserve your seat , and mostly you will reserve the entire taxi and make groups , so that shouldn’t be a problem. Good luck 😊

Hey, so, I checked with my friend who did her Amc from Nimas, and during their time which was last year, they had their training in the training area of Gorichen Glacier, and then there was a plan of gaining height to 5000+ .. but unfortunately due to bad weather, they couldn’t gain much height, I don’t think they do any peak summit at NIMAS . Rest, I’m not very sure of the latest update. But the ice craft training is in the Gorichen Glacier training area, at around 5000m

Hi, you don't need much , just keep in mind the taxi fare which would be approx 1200 each way, then the meals enroute, plus if you've missed any personal item that you need to pick up from Dirang, and some occasional snacks that you can buy from the Canteen at NIMAS. Just keep some cash for New Melling, you might find a shop or two that sells momo and soup etc. It totally depends on you though if you want to purchase any souvenir from the shops though too. To answer your second question, no the institute doesn't provide any vacancy related stuff.

1. At Dirang, in the NIMAS campus, you will have good charging facility. Then at New Melling, charging option was only at the girl's accomodation and the dining area. At Mago, it was mostly Available in the baracks where were put up . Carry your own power bank to charge your device at Jeethanng and Meerrathang. 2. Bajaj's insurance policy is valid for one year. The maximum date range is 29days eg. 1sept-29sept. So I cannot put date of visit as 1day prior to the starting of course.

The starting date matters, for example if your course is starting on 17th September, put the starting date for 16th , as most likely you’ll be starting from Guwahati on 16th, and anyway you must reach one day or evening before the course starts.. the end date doesn’t matter, just apply for the maximum date in the range . It will be checked at the checkpost while entering Arunachal, and not while exiting, so no worries. And apply as student, not tourist

1. You don't have to post anything, you can do the payment online and just attach the medical certificate while applying. 2. You can mention your regular medical insurance, or any in the initial form. But just note, that you must have an adventure insurance before you reach the campus. What is it like for non Hindi speaking trainees to go.

Mostly instructions will be in Hindi, but a few of the instructors do speak English. So, if you are someone who doesn't understand Hindi at all, jst tell them from Day 1 that you don't speak Hindi, and they will make an effort to translate it to you or pair you with someone who can then translate it to you. In our batch , we had a few , but all of us helped and it was ok . I feel, this is the same in most institutes.

And regarding the types of questions, it's a mix of objectives and subjectives. Not to worry so much about it. You'll get to know everything during the course, and there's nothing you need to prepare or read from before. Can I go for solo trek without a guide after doing BMC course (treks like kedarnatha ...kuari pass ...kangri etc)

One of the key components of mountaineering, never go solo for any expedition or trek even if you can.. Kedarkantha is a very popular winter trek, so you might go with a group or so, but I won't suggest you to go absolutely solo for any trek, even if it's easy.. just take one person atleast along with you..
