I live in Scottsdale AZ and my plants go in the garage in front of a east window for the winter. I do not water from November to late February but when the temps are above 60 during the day I put them out in the sun and bring them in at night. I have them on a rolling restaurant table. Once the growth starts I remove nay shriveled branches and do my spring shaping and repot if necessary. This has been my routine for 6 years and it has been successful. Thanks for the other tips i will use them.

On the topic of preventing pests; how do you go about spraying the desert rose? Do you spray early in the morning in the shade? Letting it dry before putting it back out into the sun? My Adenium has been pretty touchy with pesticides/insecticides. Usually drops all of its leaves afterwards.

Probably not enough direct sunlight, mine get about 6-8 hours of full sun each day, I gave a plant that was flowering like crazy to someone but it only gets about 4-5 hours of full sun each day at their house. Once the flowers on the plant dropped it never got another bud, she's had it over a year now.

Question for you. When you are first growing your plant and trying to get its size closer to where you want it for Bonsai, what kind of pot do you use? I have a desert rose that is maybe 4 or 5 years old at this point and would like to potentially try bonsai with it, when it is ready. Thanks!

Hi, we love your channel, very informative. I have a question. We live in Darwin in tropical Northern Australia. It is a great climate for desert roses and we have a lot of success with them but our wet season has very heavy rain and in a monsoon, we can have a month of solid rain. Should we be concerned about the plants being exposed to this much rain? It doesn't seem to affect them too much but if we can make the conditions better for them by covering them, would this help in any way or should we not be too worried? I look forward to your reply. Keep on making quality videos and I wish you every success in your business doing something that you love and that you are very passionate and proud of. 👊

I'll repot my old adenium around 15 years old. We never knew how to take care but he's good, some flowers, we never trim, until I'm interest in it and gardening 😉 Tell me if I'm making a mistake. If I cut a piece further down the codex the roots go to the sides or is it the fact of putting a support underneath that directs the roots? I'm thinking of just un-potting it, repotting it and releasing the codex several centimetres into the air, how much can I do? At the moment it's in a 21cm diameter pot, 20cm long, well swollen in the middle (the pot is breaking), it had taken root in slag but that's not possible here because of the cyclones, you mustn't let anything take hold or there's a chance of losing it. For the little ones that are growing slowly, at about how many centimetres, I can remove them from the pot and put them in individually ? At the moment it's the size of a phalanx, I think it's been about +1 month, I didn't notice. I'm planning to do several types of bonsai with them, radial, semi-cascade... If you have any advice on how to make the most of seedlings. Thank you very much

When a desert rose is starting to produce a seed pod does this affect how much to water it, fertilize it or is the regualr care fine. Just don't want the seed pod to fail.

You talk about bringing them in when it gets under 50F, a couple times you've said 45F, are you talking about the daytime temps or nighttime temps? And are you talking about avoiding prolonged exposure to low temps or just a single day/night? I've got about 75 adeniums, half of them are large, in gallon pots, and those I'm not worried about, the rest are in 8 inch pots and about 6 inches tall. I have the small ones in a cold frame/hoop house but we're going to have several nights in the next 2 weeks when it will get into the 40's at night. Should I bring those indoors on the cold nights or should they be OK in the cold frame? I'm in Clearwater Beach, FL By the way, I just found your channel about 2 weeks ago, thanks for all the good information :)

Just as a follow up, we had 5 nights this week where the low temps were between 37F and 45F and everything survived, just a little browning on the leaf tips of some of the mature plants. It'll be in the upper 70's this week so the plants will get a chance to warm up and for the soil to dry out some before the next round of cold hits. I'd still love to get Jerome's input on this :)
