I am a type 5. I listen and listen waiting to hear the person who simply appreciates us and doesn't view us in a dim light. We are amazing people who add to the greater good. My daughter is a two and I'm so grateful she l is. She takes care of me as I'm disabled. My son the 8 leads the charge and my other daughter, a 7, keeps us all on our toes. It's like colors on a pallet, unique and wonderful.

The 5’s unhealthy or dysfunctional behavior is avarice…but that’s us on a bad day. It’s not sin. We are made how we are made and there’s nothing sinful about keeping to ourselves. It might be a little harmful to us, but it’s usually not harmful to others unless it’s mental illness and that’s certainly not sin. Such a word is so full of blame.

Each type has a- well, I like to call it a weakness. The word 'sin' has just been used in more formal Enneagram teaching. (Everyone has sin and should be working on becoming aware of it and growing, each in our own way.) I would suggest while you are studying the Enneagram to change that word to weakness. With the Enneagram, it's just a specific thing that that particular type gets hung up on- usully more than the other types.

Is it just me or does it seem like this enneagram stuff seems a lot like astrology

Thanks for your comment! I know others have thought the same thing, in fact there's an Enneagram teacher, Helen Palmer, who's tried to correlate the Enneagram and Astrology. I think the big difference is that astrology tries to tell us who we are and our future based on our birthdate, it’s fixed and doesn’t allow for change. The Enneagram is based on our motives and is a tool for us to use to grow and have transformation in our lives. Thanks for your thoughts and for allowing me to share mine! 🙂
