Respect to Mitch for going hard even during soundcheck. I know he was probably doing it for this 2021 clout, but it's still really cool.

Idk they were pretty popular, especially compared to other bands that were considered their peers. Pavement was probably the only 90s indie band that sold more records than GBV

I know GBV still exists and they still put out new music, but they’re not writing songs like this anymore unfortunately. I really try to dig their new stuff but it just doesn’t captivate me the way all these gems from the 90’s did. Alas, it is what it is, as they say.

I saw GBV around this time at Grand Valley State University, Pollard was drinking beer and ranting about a bad review in a major magazine throughout the show, saying he was going to tear him apart, etc. The campus police were standing there not sure what to make of it.

Kevin Fennels a pretty weird guy. But to answer your question, he and Mitch (guitar player on left) were in a thrash/hardcore band together during the brief GBV hiatus after Propeller. Definitely some 80s metal sensibilities in that drum Sound

@grantmills4184: Well, yeah, maybe back in the day, but they've been more mid-fi for a long time now. It didn't help that I was standing in front of Tobe's LOUD guitar amp while I was shooting that clip!

@@lumpytwangage you’re the one that filmed this? That’s actually pretty cool, and I’m sure standing in front of the amp didn’t help haha. And yeah I guess their earlier albums were a little rougher in terms of production
