I really like the Tunstall math units but they require many hours of prep and this involves the added price of colour printing and laminating. I have moved to other math units which are less prep intensive🙂.

When in the kinesthetic station, do the students have a choice of tubs or do you give 1 daily for group to share?

I teach grade four and all subjects, so I am organizing math centers, literacy centers, writing, and science/social studies. I have lots of bins and tubs and totes but I also organize by season, standard and colors due to groups. I have been at this for 26 years and am getting a bit cluttered. You have helped so much, but I need to know if you keep things in your office then take to school so you keep organization at bay. I was also curious if you use dishpans for the centers and are the cylindrical bowed and numbered ones for just more to do and early finishers on the side that allow the kids to continue or go to when done?

what is a good way to manage the centers that are monthly themed? I love monthly themes centers as I feel it keeps my students more engaged but I am a bit lost as to how to manage them. For example say there is a concept on the September set that has not been thought how can I handle that? do I just keep it out of their reach? and if its something we don't get to that month they just won't play it?

How do you make sure that the students are actually doing the work at the stations? Do you have multiple choices out at once for K (kinesthetic)? LOVED the video!

I get students going and then I occasionally take a stroll around the room, send out tattling tess to spy, or simply check their work if I am suspicious. :) Consistency and frequent follow up help most. For K I have 5 stations out for the week. Sometimes they can choose, sometimes I choose.

For the hands on component: If you have 4 students in the group do you have 4 of the same game or are they sharing

It depends on the game. I usually make enough for two students to share in a group of 4 so that means making 2 of the game. Sometimes I give them more choices and don't duplicate any of the games. It depends on how the kids work together and how many I have. Ideally, I would make more than one of every game but I don't always feel like doing that or have enough supplies to do that.
