Fun fact: Speer’s design for Germania excluded public traffic from the main concourse. It was intended for mere commoners and their cars to use underground passages, always keeping the above clear for parades and official business.

Why would they? They're not in America. Jesse Owens said he felt more respected there than at home and was forced to retract his statement later. The real motto was that they thought everyone should feel this way about their own for the total uplift of humanity. The most bizarre thing about their armed forces irl is that they technically had the most diverse army in the entire world, more than romans and even americans at its time. then someone is gonna stomp around and say "forced", uh-huh.

@@Democrities It's just a food for thought conversation, this ideologue is ashes so don't think me in a funny way - but you cannot compare anyone after WW2 who tries to hold up this ideology as the people that made it. The original ideals would be absolutely disgusted by all the nats and skinheds proceeding this era, they literally fit the model of their labeled "untermensch". I'm sure it was scrubbed off internet, I mean I have to type in very peculiar ways just to say anything on here anymore without ai filter, but Jesse Owens said he never felt more respected than when he left America or something to that effect. You probably shouldn't forget how racist America is, and especially, classically, was. Unfavorable to the suave nature of these types in the video and irl at their time.

@@Democrities And I know you are a Marxist or something aligned with, but I do not judge you at all. You can see parallels with how the original Marxists or Communists would be displeased with the modern ones, as they just consume and are wearing the ideology like a cheap costume. Surely you know what I am talking about. I think if we are to ever find ourselves an ideology that bridges all divide, it has to meditated on all angles and bring them together into something truly revolutionary to break away from the themes that have been making us all cannibalize eachother. Look at these ideologies of their time, they didn't ride off of things already made, they made new things, and if not, they MADE it new. And anyways, the ideology you like was never supposed to be THE ideology, it was the path TO utopia. Biggest misconceptions your followers have is that it simply is the utopia which is why people hijack it every time. I encourage you to be yourself and continue being who you are. ❤ I feel this same way about the ones we're discussing already, they're just products of their times. Needs a revamp, everything does but it cannot happen with the current horror that the capitalist machine has become. It was never supposed to turn into what it has but it did, just like all the other big scary ideologies of their times. We all are united in this whether we understand/like eachother or not. Don't let small minded people warp your reality, they are in everything and everywhere. Who knows what you can achieve if you put your mind to it enough and meditate on these philosophies. I myself have drawn up an entire ideology that would save America from itself. Anything is possible.

Actually the plan of building the city of Germania was nearly impossible. Berlin is located in marshland which makes the ground not stable enough for heavy buildings like that. That is one of the reasons why we do not have any (real) skycrapers in Berlin. The Nazis tested the marshy ground in Berlin with an obcject in shape of an cylinder, which you still can still visit in Berlin, called "Schwerbelastungskörper" or in English "heavy load-exerting body". With this building they wanted to test if it would be possible to build this huge triumphal arch. If the cylinder were to sink less than 6 cm, the soil would be deemed sound enough for further construction without additional stabilization but it had sunk nearly 20 cm after just two and a half years. And the dome of Volkshalle/Great Hall would have been so big that it would have had its own weather. Actually clouds with rain etc. would have formed due to the breath of those people present.
@flaneur7300
@flaneur7300 11 ай бұрын
Still, it would have been possible. The Luxembourgian architect Léon Krier explained, "Therefore, gigantic substructures were planned, an underground concrete city. The Great Hall was to stand on a foundation of 30x30x30 meter blocks." (Translated from: "Albert Speer? Das war gute Architektur", Die Welt, April 7, 2016.)

March, the U boat commander turned policeman, has just discovered that U boat crew socks were made from the hair of extermination camp victims. I read the book over a decade ago, and I still remember that scene. He read how the possessions of the murdered Jews would be used, and then he read the line about the hair made into socks for u-boat crews. It goes on, then stops, and the line is shown again, in italics. By that time, readers know he was a former u-boat crewman. And it cuts right to him in the bath. Awesome writing.

I saw this video on my youtube homepage for several times and now randomly decided to finally watch it - and the most surprising finding for me is that this "Guided tour of Neu Berlin, from whatever movie it is, was filmed almost entirely (except the scenes with Brandenburg gate and Volkshalle) in Prague, the capital of Czech republic and my home! The tour begins on Václav Havel Airport Prague (in 1994 named "Prague - Ruzyně Airport"), continues on the "Strakonická" street, where the bus passes under the "Branický" bridge, then proceeds to the "Barrandovský" bridge (where the Hitler's portrait is displayed) and after "passing around the Brandenburg gate and the Volkshalle" the bus ends it's route in front of the Hotel Hilton Prague Oldtown, near the "Masarykovo" train station. Some scenes filmed within the bus shows even more Prague locations passing by, I think that in some scenes the bus goes through the "Radlice" district for example. In reality, these locations are not on one consistent route, the "tour" is simply meshed up from various shots filmed all around Prague. Nevertheless, it is really interesting for me to know that our city appeared in such movie... *EDIT: The "Berlin-Tempelhof airport" in this movie is real. I misidentified it as Prague airport due to similar architecture, and thought they just added fake name for the movie purpose and filmed the scene in Prague also. Then I made some research and found out that this was not the case. Sorry for my mistake.

The bus seems to come from either Adlershof or Gatow instead, not Tempelhof. And no, there are no cliff sides in the Brandenburgian steppes... Reminds me a bit of that sequence in "Charly and the Chocolate Factory" when introducing Augustus Gloop. The shot shows a small town in a mountainous region, the caption says "Dusseldorf, Germany"... Facepalm time...

@@PauloPereira-jj4jv Who wouldathoutit... Of course I am aware of that, but... the airport was named as Tempelhof, filmed on site actually with the unmistakable high awnings, a well known shot in many movies about Berlin, located in the middle of Berlin. The destination is the center of Speer's Germania... which in the real world would just be 3 km apart... not a 30 min+ bus ride with cliff faces... it is the obvious incongruity noticable to anyone who has been to Berlin that is so risible...

I remember watching this on HBO when it was brand new, then read the book. Fascinatingly realistic take of post-WW2 alternate history, but in a lot of respects it's more a crime/conspiracy thriller set in an oppressive regime, peppered with interesting lore, like a Cold War thriller from a Soviet perspective. Given the direct-to-TV production value from that time, the movie looks a little cheap at places (it was easy to tell that various shooting locations were actually in Eastern Europe, which was cheaper for the production company), but the production team really did try with the little details and I can respect that. On one hand this story begs to be remade with better visuals, but I'm not sure modern political sensibilities could do this story justice (especially after that botch work with The Man in the High Castle), not now at least. Plus it'll sladder over the late Rutger Hauer's performance, which just seems depressing to think about.

The main difference is the US does not get involved in the war in Europe, but ti still invents the atomic bomb before the Germans do, but since it is not at war with Germany, it does not use the atomic bomb on Germany for the same reason it didn't in our timeline use that atomic bomb on the Soviets, so wait a few years and the Germans get their own atomic bomb, and the World settles into a Cold War. This Cold War is a bit different from the one in our timeline, as Nazi ideology has little appeal in the Third World, The Korean War doesn't happen, the Vietnam War doesn't happen, China doesn't go communist, Cuba doesn't go communist. There is little appetite for white supremacist ideology in countries that aren't majority white, and that is most of the Third World.

many nazis had the idea of "noble savages", leni rifenstahl (the woman who made all the hitler movies and was a hardcore nazi) actually made documentaries about african bantu tribes after the war.

@@N0mark0v here is a review of her work on the nuba tribe: Although the Nuba are black, not Aryan, Riefenstahl’s portrait of them is consistent with some of the larger themes of Nazi ideology: the contrast between the clean and the impure, the incorruptible and the defiled, the physical and the mental, the joyful and the critical. [...] What is distinctive about the fascist version of the old idea of the Noble Savage is its contempt for all that is reflective, critical, and pluralistic. [...] In celebrating a society where the exhibition of physical skill and courage and the victory of the stronger man over the weaker have, at least as she sees it, become the unifying symbol of the communal culture-where success in fighting is the “main aspiration of a man’s life”-Riefenstahl seems only to have modified the ideas of her Nazi films.
