They could at least give Beverlee McKinsey an honorary Emmy and let her director-son accept it on her behalf! She's as worthy as every past recipient, if not more. I mean, BM contributed SO MUCH to AW and GL!

Vincent irrizarry (Lujack)was working on that,but I sense the Emmy honchos want a star to be at the show to honor. Totally messed up! She should have won 1 of those nominations.

Most years, she actually didn't submit her name for consideration while on GL. The one year she did, the Academy shamefully failed to nominate her.

Did Donna Love on Another World ever get nominated for a Daytime Emmy or ever win one ? I think Linda Dano won an award or two for her portrayal of Felicia Gallant , am I wrong or correct ? My favorites are Beverlee MacKenzie as Alexandra Spaulding on Guiding Light , Elizabeth Hubbard as Lucinda Walsh on As The World Turns , and Anna Stuart as Donna Love and Linda Dano as Felicia Gallant on Another World , and Phoebe Tyler Wallingford on All My Children , and Lila Quartermaine on General Hospital ( my least favorite daytime drama ) . Louise Sorrel as Augusta Lockridge on Santa Barbara and as Vivian Alamain on DOOL is among the very best . Brenda Benet as Lee Dumonde on DOOL was among the best as well . I must include Jane Windsor as Emma Donovan Marshall on DOOL , albeit an unfortunately brief stint .

Thank you for posting this GL episode. I watched GUIDING LIGHT from late 1981 until GL's cancellation in Sept. 2009. GL had seen me through scholastic snafus; employment debacles and neurosurgeries too numerous to mention here [along with eye/orthopedic operations]. I have had the amazing opportunity to meet some of my favorite GL actors at various events over the years. I was honored to meet Michael Zaslow in Sept. 1998 and I have met Bradley Cole, Robert Newman & Vincent Irizarry at various GL meet-and-greets years ago. Everyone was so kind to me and I miss GUIDING LIGHT and its actors terribly. Thank you so much for posting this episode in its entirety. xoxo Love, Ali xoxo

My soul needed to see this again today. Guiding Light is still my favorite show ever. Vanessa and Alex are my favorite soap characters along with Ms. Drusilla Winters from Y&R. Didnt understand why mom loved it so until I grew up and kept watching to keep a part of our routine going. GL characters and cast just have this rich way of leaving life long impressions. Only show I’ve ever felt this way about. There were a few on ATWT/AW but not like the core characters of GL did. Bert, Mike & Jennifer Richards, Rodger, Ed( sometimes), Papa & Meta Bauer, Holly, Jackie Marler, Hampton, Billy, Henry, Maureen, Blake, Harley, Coop, Buzz, Jenna, and many many more. I miss them all so.

Watched GL from a kid with Mom and on and off until final episodes. An American Institution. When Soaps ruled daytime and eventually prime time. Now only a few survive, replaced by so called reality, game and insipid talk shows! Alexandra brilliantly portrayed by both Beverlee and later Marj Dusay and Alan were my favorite loving disfunctional siblings! Unfortunately most of the cast, like Guiding Light, are now beautiful memories.

May I just ask, and not to show any meanness towards Kim Zimmer and Robert Newman, because I know how instrumental they were to the show's success, but once they left were the stories more allocated around the rest of the cast? It seems like it, but I didn't watch during Reva and Josh.
@marcelparker67553 ай бұрын
I agree with this statement 100%. As a Josh and Reva fan, this was actually one of my favorite eras of the show. This and 1979. When you had grade-A actors like McKinsey and Zaslow, you couldn't go wrong. It's a shame how both of their tenures on the show ended.
