I don't think there is a better sounding guitar out there for fingerpicked blues. When the bearded gentleman in the beginning and then the gentleman at the end played the fingerpicked blues it sounded like the greatest blues acoustic guitar in history.

Not sure, but I think the bracing is scalloped ?

Guild m20 or Yamaha fs5?
@DjNikGnashers3 жыл бұрын
Great sounding Guild, and very nice playing. False information on Nick Drake though, there is NO evidence of any kind, even from people who knew him at the time, that he ever played a Guild M20. There is one picture of him holding one, because that was the only guitar at the photographers studio when they were taking pictures for an album cover.

So, what did “people who knew him” say he played?

Heard about that too but strangely the more I hear reviewers play the M-20 on KZbin the more similar it gets to the sound of the guitar played by Nick Drake on his albums. Perhaps he did play it but it's just that unlike today people were not too particular about what guitar a performer played on which song etc.
@DjNikGnashers3 жыл бұрын
@@DeenDesperado Personally, I think his particular sound does not really come from a particular type or brand of guitar. Nick Drake played on strings that were always completely dead, and he would only change them if one broke. That, coupled with the way he played, gave the unique sound, and you could get that sound any dozens of different guitars, if you played like Nick on completely worn out strings.

If you actually listen to what’s said, no one said Nick Drake played an M20.

One of the great myths is that Drake played this guitar. It merely featured on the front cover of an album but there is no proof at all that he actually played it and he likely did not at all. Strange that it is virtually synonymous with him and he probably never played it. It wasn't even his guitar. It was owned by a chap called Nigel Waymouth and was apparently Eric Clapton's before that.
@gillesserrigny63243 ай бұрын
Nigel Waymouth was painter, designer and photographer. He did the picture and the design of Bryter Layter. The Guild M20 would have left by Eric Clapton in the studio of Nigel Waymouth.

Ah yes the old Afghan blanket tone my favourite. I have a Martin 0-17 that has an amazing Thai Ladyboys G-string tone. It really stands out in the crowd with enough personality to wipe the smile off a pregnant Nun.
