Picked up this guitar (but with the Dynasonic pickups) ... after owning a ton of cheap, average, custom shop & vintage guitars (Fender, Gibson, Gretsch, PRS) ... I gotta say, the Guild Manhattan x-175 ranks right up there as one of the most enjoyable to play. While not as expensive as many of my guitars, the combination of elements (and value) this guitar provides is pretty surprising. Plays like a comfortable acoustic but smoother than most electrics - best of both worlds? I didn't pay full retail but even then, It probably would classify as a good value.

Great playing, great sound. Hey, one question. I,m thinking about buying the new x175 Manhattan Special, a beautiful guitar. I have a Gretsch 5420t that sounds great. Anyway, the price is almost double. You think is worth it? I,m no expert so I would appreciate the advice. Thanks a lot.

Have owned a few Japanese Gretsch's and I actually prefer the Guild.

Very nice indeed. That middle setting has shades of the old Peter Green thing.

Greg you're costing me a lot of money sir! Because of this video, I just bought one of these guitars haha. It's supposed to arrive tomorrow and I'm very very excited. From the pictures though I think mine is not as orange yours. mine is much more blonde. Is yours a really that orangish color or is it the lighting in the video? I'm so glad you made this video playing some blues because I don't really play rockabilly but I do play this kind of stuff and this recording tells me that this guitar is going to sound badass! Great playing and great tone sir!

@@GregsGuitars just received it today! It's so different than my solid body and semi hollow-body guitars! It's taking some getting used to but I really like it a lot :-) it's not as big in my lap and hands as I thought it might be. Very comfortable play for me. I'd love to tone of those pickups. Not at all like little humbuckers but more like single coil tone. I'm playing it at pretty decent volume with a little bit of dirt and it sounds fantastic! A blues and rock and roll machine! I could get a little crazy horse with it. I think it came with tens and I'm going to put 11 on it tonight
