Hello! I have really learned a lot from you guys, and I love it! I'm so glad you're somewhere that makes you so happy and less stressed! My question is: Internet. How do you do it off-grid? I'd love to go away from people, but my Grump-Nugget is similar to your husband; a gamer, youtube, gotta have his internet...that's the main hurdle for me getting out into the woods in my very own Hobbit Hole! How will we ever survive without the internet? *hand to forehead* I know you guys have got something decent to be able to upload videos...if you have addressed this in another video, I must have missed it! Anyway, if you have a moment, could you point me and anyone else with this problem in the right direction? Thanks! :D

Jamie we live this same life and you are right it is a peaceful life rewarding life.We chose what we want to do from day to day.No hurrying to get up and get to a job somewhere. We get up early eat go feed animals then do farm chores very rewarding. When you raise all your food and animals you know what you are eating.

Swans, geese, ducks, muskrats and turtles on and in our pond, beautiful. We have eagles, hawks, foxes, coyotes, bears. A soft wind in the summer that soothes you and makes you take a breath of clean air. You can almost here the garden grow. My soul can fill up with the peace.

Since moving to Nova Scotia 2 yrs ago from Ontario suburbia....and moving to the Annapolis Valley on the South mountain off Waterville we are just amazed at how the stars twinkle every night just amazing and unless someone else lives like this they have NO idea what they are missing. People need to slow down and appreciate the splendor of the night's sky. No wonder people are so stressed out Jamie. We love our neighbours too even though our nearest is a mile away, when we go on holidays for a week one neighbour comes by with their 3 young kids and feed and water our chickens , we tell them to keep they eggs from our 13 girls and they are just so ecstatic. Without sounding creepy...... i wish we were your neighbors .Take care from Nova Scotia Canada Daryl

Living like you do now looks amazing in so many ways. I completely understand your appreciation of quiet - being a highly sensitive person prone to stress and headaches currently living in the city (close to the largest airport in the country no less) there is nothing I currently want more than to be able to move out into the country, far away from cars, airplanes and people. To find peace and focus. I'm glad I found your channel; you are amazing and inspiring people. Best of luck with everything moving forward.

Never has a video spoken to me more than this one right now. Sick of disrespectful neighbours, barking dogs etc etc... I swear people in general have become more rude aggressive and disrespectful these days. I'd love to move away from people in general. Not all people are like this obviously, I just feel most are though. I've always had a deep routed urge to live a quite self sufficient life. This video has reignited that urge... So thank you.

I feel exactly the same, Lee Darcy. Life in the big city, traffic, people with ever diminishing consideration for others, smartphone zombies everywhere you look, and the incessant, inescapable noise and stress. This video was a perfect beacon call to escape and start over. My dream is to get away to a quiet, wooded acreage and live a simpler life. It's nice to know others feel the same. Good luck on your journey!

Beautifully said Jamie. The peace and serenity shows on your faces and in your expressions. We lived in the city until 1994, when we moved to Brevard, NC where we bought a modest home in the country. Next we bought a blueberry farm further out in the country, then later we moved to still another farm in another town out in the sticks. I'm like you, I love the peace and quiet of country life. Everyone in my country farm neighborhood raise their own animals, have gardens and do all kinds of wonderful projects. We have within our neighborhood, chickens, goats, sheep, cows, horses, donkeys, turkeys, ducks, & llamas, pigs, guineas, doves, wineries, family gardens, back to eden gardens, gardens of all types. However what I like best about our neighborhood is that I know if I would have need of anything, I've only to ask and it will be offered by any of my neighbors. Be it a cup of sugar, a hoe, a rake, or a backhoe, someone near has one. When you live in a great neighborhood its like one great big family. It is wonderful to see how happy you all are! God Bless! Journey On!

I remember the first night we fell asleep, on our 5 acres. It was freaky how quiet it was, at first. But after a week, I suddenly realised, how my shoulders were relaxing. All because I wasn't anticipating the morning traffic noise, start up, or when the neighbours dogs would start barking. Of course, on 5 acres, more people have built here since - and the neighbours just built a working garage, right next to our fenceline. So it's not so quiet, any more. ;) But it's still not as noisy as suburbia was.

I am 62 and I have lived the prepper homestead life ..almost all..of my life and what you are saying is so very true then I had to move to suburbia for 4 yrs that's when my health declined as well as my frame of thinking..the traffic ..sirens..people screaming and yelling..my ahhhhh time..quiet time disappeared. Those 4 yrs was the only time in my life I felt trapped..hopeless..and very sick. I gathered my wits and we moved far away into a home that was abandoned for 4 years ..a total disaster ..located in the western foothills of the smokies that had 5 acres ..4 yrs later we have chickens..cattle..a garden..a beautiful home..and never miss one night of looking at the stars or feeling the soft quiet breeze on my face..finally back to my life that I had always had...the best part of this brave move was my health it started to improve as well as my state of mind finally I could breathe. We have such wonderful like minded neighbors and we knew we had like minded neighbors when we moved in. This one older couple gave us 2 doz eggs..farm raised ground beef..2 laying hens and 16 fertile eggs as a house warming gift..and ya know what..we did not even have a coop but that gift inspired us to build ..he helped ..she made lunch. I am so happy and proud of your family for getting off the grid..away from the crud and living the way YOU want to live. Good for you :-)

Great video! I really related deeply to everything you talked about. We left an established neighborhood and moved out to a rural area onto 5 acres. Unfortunately, the land owner close to us sold his land to a developer. Houses are being built inches away from each other and their lights are stifling our view of the stars. The noises of cars and people fill the once quiet, peaceful solitude. I yearn for what we once had. If we are ever able to move again we will not purchase less than 20 wooded acres.

The beauty of living out in a rural setting. It so wonderful to hear how it's brought peace and freedom to your lives...it is so incredibly priceless! I just don't understand city life, or the now traditional way of life. We tried to do it. To add to your reason number one. When you live in close proximity to great numbers of people, especially those unlike yourself, your person space gets influenced by the mob of other personal spaces. It tends to introvert unless there is an outlet. City dwellers who understand this instinctively find outlets such as trips to the outdoors, running marathons, rock climbing and a myriad of other things to restore their balance. The hustle & bustle of city life is unnatural to the human spirit. Yours is the ideal outlet by bypassing all that stress and you are in a place to allow your spirit to roam free, unfettered by the crush of humanity.

Totally agree with your observations. You begin to live by your senses because you can see, hear and feel connected again. We are looking forward to getting to that place...again. We are in a rural neighborhood surrounded by people obsessed with cutting grass. We share our garden food and the neighbors are amazed that we are the smallest house on the smallest property. Our yard is now our Back To Eden garden and enough for all. Q: Do you plan to sell trees to invest in your homestead? Red Tool House Channel did that and paid down their property loan.

Guildbrook Farm | Simple Sustainable Living, Pure Living for Life wanted to build their house from trees from their land. Turned out that he was barely able to build from local trees off his land. ... The problem was the house design didn't match the materials. The design called for almost 30 foot beams. Well, they had tall trees, but it was hard to find them to be perfectly straight at that long length. So be sure your logger is in the design phase, as engineers don't know it all. xoxo from sunny 🌞 Arizona 80/49f today.

We have a property on 10 acres and we are only there part time at the moment. When we are there the quiet is unbelievable, I can totally relate.

So enjoy your videos. Since I sold my farm and moved to town I miss farm living. Enjoy the experience of developing you place. I had the wonderful experience making my farm from scratch by my self and would still be there if age hadn’t caught up with me so I will live vicariously through your off grid experience. Thank you both keep filming.

Carol Dorsett my great grandmother lived on her farm into her late 80's. Unfortunately she fell one morning while milking the cows and broke her hip. She was 89 and never recovered. But she lived a beautiful life.
