Standardized education wasn't a thing until the industrial revolution (when they needed to educate kids for working in factories, they'll teach them stuff more as a way to make them good drones), I think back in those days only those who could afford a tutor and/or books could learn stuff, which means only the nobles could. I guess learning for the lower classes was limited to what their parents and/or a neighbor were willing to teach (apprenticeship).

Took me a few years of my life to find out, and it's funny that I'm not from Germany myself but my ancestors had like two farms with their name at the border between Germany and The Netherlands and the name is still there..barely. It's evolved in three names now which are Klein and Groot(Little and Big) Thanks for responding back man, really appreciated here.

+Madnes64 Sorry for the late reply, I also have a busy life :p. Well, apparently the internet tells you to look on the internet first to see where your name pops up the most. Theres a Dutch site that has information about documents with your last name(Like Poop,1490 for example). One of my family members told me that they originated from Gelderland(A province in the Netherlands) and indeed, my last name popped up in three different entities. The name is the same but farm names usually mix names together if two different families live at one farm( Kevin Poop-Turd lol) After I knew where to look for, I started to dig into my countries history and the places that had my last name just to see what to do next. The city and church of Munster in Germany had a lot of power in that era, so there it was where I had to go to next. And theres a site in Germany that has these documents being placed on the internet so you and me could look for anything that deals with history. The german site is called Landesarchive and you can look up a lot of stuff there.
