I had GBS in 2001 when I was a kid (11-12) and I still have weakness and foot drop (both feet) because of it. The week before the flaccid paralysis was terrible, diarrhea, fever, vomiting, dehydration, sometimes I couldn't even hold water down, then started falling over till I couldn't get back up, luckily It didn't affect my respiratory system. To whoever has it or dealing with the aftermath keep on fighting and to the people who have someone who has it, give them all your love and support, they need it more than you think.

I am a 44 year old OEF/OIF Navy veteran and of course within my 5 years I was given many vaccinations including a few cycles of Anthrax vaccines. I worked in the hospital after my time in the service where I was required to receive many other vaccinations as well. I have always been active and in good health and actually deliver wine to many well known retailers and restaurants which require a lot of labor and lifting. I am into my third year now as a delivery driver but after I went to the VA and got the J&J Vaccine it wasn’t long until I started getting tingles in my legs, almost felt like warm water running down my hips, hands and feet with numbness in the lips. I also found it odd to take steps. Then at night I had severe needle like pains in my arms and hands. Excruciating pains! Then I got Covid and my whole body hurt I slept for three days but come out of it! Then something happened in my neck that almost paralyzed me! I got an MRI and they said I had spinal stenosis and got steroid shots in my neck for 6 months til I recovered. Every time I went to the chiropractor it only felt worse. I was in pain pills for month’s but still hurt like hell! Now my back and hips are killing me with each step. Work is torture but this morning I could not lift my arm and my shoulders burn like hell! With lighting pains like hot electric wires in the arms same pains just different parts of body! 😢I have high blood pressure and strange palpitations! I have been married for almost 17 years with my oldest 19 years old in college, 15 year old freshman in high school and my two boy/girl twin babies who are about to turn 9! If it is this then I am not scared, Christ is with me, always is and always has been! I hold his name on high! King Jesus! I am going to call the Doctor Asap and ask for this test! Life is beautiful and I am blessed to have experienced it all! Whatever happens I will embrace the suck!

My 21 month old had this. It took 4 days for the doctor to realize it was GBS. She received plasma and was able to walk after 3 weeks of therapy. August 30th of 2019, she turned 6yo, she now hops, skips, jumps and walks normally. Is crazy to know she ever experienced this. We know that her case isn't only rare but that she regained mobility in such a short time, is truly a miracle.

Was discharged and sent home and now a nurse comes home to give me more infusion for 5 days every month. I am never the same again because of pain and weakness. I am hoping to get better while taking therapy. I was missed diagnostic by the first doctor. Wasted 2 weeks but the second Doctors fount the problem after a EMG and reflects test and sent me to the ER.

The pain is excruciating!! Its painful, burning, tingling, stinging sensations, joint pain, muscle pain. My throat glands seem to swell all the time & it feels like I'm breathing through a straw. I also had had my heart go into strange rhythms that made me feel like I might faint. I've had no paralysis, but at times my legs muscles feel jello weak and unsteady. I also developed a pinpoint rash on hands. And the fatigue is severe. I'm waiting now to see a neurologist.

thanks for the info. my cousin has been recently diagnosed with this. my issues are that I'm looking for a video that would explain how does R.S.V. in an adult work and how do you get violent shakes from having sepsis like i did? and how does it affect/effect your ability to walk? i have this problem. i received wrong meds, a flu and pneumonia shot as well, and told i had a blood disease, kidney/bladder issue, but the med that was given wasn't what was going to help cuz that wasn't the problem, so they stopped it. i went in for asthma exasperation and pneumonia and then a day or two later i couldn't walk anymore and i was violently shaking. i was sent to a nursing home for 3 weeks and a half after being in the hospital for 6 days. and now I'm still recovering from it since Oct. '17. the other Dr.'s at the second hospital said that this was normal from what i went in for originally. I'VE NEVER HAD THAT PROBRLEM BEFOR FOR ASTHMA AND PNEUMONIA. Can you explain this to me? cuz like i said, the other Dr.'s thought that this was an odd case. thanks. Jessica D. Guillory Rance

I had it on september and october 2017, and spent one month on the neurology ward. Fortunately I got over very fast, after 4 plasmapheresis more-less 14 days from the beggining I managged to stand by myself and creep slowly holding the wall, after next 7 days I was able to run on the treadmill in the hospital's rehab unit gym. Maybe important thing was that this time I was in my life form taking part in military course, I don't know... The most problematic thing for me in GBS was terrible diplopy that I had what used to cause big hedeaches and loss of ballance, but thanks God it passed completelly after 2 months. I had big luck that all the time I was able to breathe and swallow by myself. People, care about yourself and don't neglect even a cold.

A to teraz jesteś w szpitalu? Trzymam kciuki!

Actually this is to protect further damage. On 26th Jan I ran 7 km and on 28th Jan I was admitted almost paralysed. Actually I had cough from last 10 days and that's how it started. Anyways it's 2nd Feb and we are done with IVIG, Doctors said it's controlled now. My physiotherapy started, let's see how long I would be able to stand on my feet. Guys if you are reading, don't panic and fight it with will power. But as soon as you got these symptoms immediately contact doctors. If you are from Delhi, Sir Ganga Ram is good hospital for treating GBS and doctor Laxmikant is too good... All The Best

In comparison with 101 other patients with severe GBS admitted to the intensive care unit, the patients who died were older and more likely to have underlying pulmonary disease. In a specialized center, the primary event leading to death from GBS was ventilator-associated pulmonary infection, predominantly in elderly patients with significant comorbidity......seems few young die....was hard to find.

Whist this is an excelent explanation for GBS, it also applies to MFS - the only difference as far as I can see is that MFS starts in the upper part of the body, specifically the eyes with double vision, then spreads down the body to the extremities - otherwise evrything else applies.

I had a colonoscopy and developed coughing, shortness of breath, chest pain and sharp/throbbing upper left arm pain after waking up from the colonoscopy. It took a month and a half of suffering post colonoscopy with progression of these symptoms to learn that I had pneumonitis because doctors thought I was crazy and was suffering from anxiety attacks. It took months to recover from the pneumonitis with two rounds of antibiotics, during the treatment of the pneumonitis though the pain in my upper left arm traveled down to the rest of my left arm and hand, and then into my entire left leg and left foot, I have weakness in my left side and the left side of my lip involuntarily jumps, my right side is fine. I was told that I have Complex regional pain syndrome, but this disease sounds similar except the symmetrical and toes-to-hand symptoms. Anyway, tfs.
