After losing much of his neurological functionality, Timothee was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré, a rare neurological disease. A team of doctors and PTs started the early mobilization with the help of the Erigo. The benefits of this tilt table physical therapy concept are the gradual verticalization and stepping movement that prevent a drop in blood pressure.
The use of rehabilitation robotics is helping hospitals that are fighting the lack of therapists to still be efficient. By using Erigo for early mobility in ICU, therapists can reduce joint stiffness and increase muscle strength from early stages on.
Watch his touching story and listen to what he experienced.

What you might not know about verticalization is that it can be incredibly physically and mentally overwhelming. I had GBS and was lying in a bed for weeks and weeks. Eventually I got to the stage where the nurses would put me in a vertical device. It became even harder to breathe, and there was pain too all throughout my body. I felt like I was gonna pass out, suffocate and die when they did it.

I would feel very confident receiving medical care in a French hospital. Their medical system is better than that of many nations. // I came to this as a former GBS patient, so I identify with Timothee. I am very happy for his recuperation. 100 days is a long time for a hospitalization. Mine was only 16 days, although I needed to walk with a cane for several months after that, and several times I felt that I was exhausted. Timothee should always remember to watch himself so that he does not overextend himself physically, even with news of a full recovery. GBS can recur later in life for any of us.

I think the robotic machine has a place but I wonder what will happen to the physio therapists will they become obsolete. I would like them to ose both as you can not substitute the human touch. We need human interactions.
